Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participation in code reviews, and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

You'll join our expert programme, a 1 year targeted, fast-track programme designed to give you depth and breadth of experience. Participating in job-based bespoke training from the start enabling you to go fully-equipped into your role as you develop specialist technical expertise.

Why the Technology Developer programme?

As a Developer, you’ll help design, build, test and maintain systems used across Barclays. This is more than w riting code; you’ll play a role in solving complex problems for clients and customers. You may w ork w ith technologies including Java, C++, C#, Python, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, containers, DevOps, cloud, machine learning, scripting and real-time systems.

To be considered for this opportunity, you'll be motivated w ith a strong degree or expected degree achieved before June 2027.

You’ll also bring a genuine interest in technology, strong problem-solving skills and the drive to deliver innovative solutions.

Barclays w ill accept applications from candidates w ho require visa sponsorship to w ork in the UK and w ill provide a skilled w orker visa for successful applicants if they meet the Home Office’s eligibility criteria for a skilled w orker visa.
