Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager, Mining to provide senior leadership across complex mining, mine infrastructure, mine water, tailings, closure, remediation, and multidisciplinary capital projects across Canada. This is a senior, client-facing role for a proven project leader who can bring strong delivery discipline, commercial acumen, technical understanding, and trusted advisory capability to major mining programs.

The successful candidate will work closely with GHD’s Mining and Resources, Environmental, Engineering Design and Project Management teams to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients across the full project lifecycle, including strategic planning, opportunity identification, concept development, feasibility, pre-FEED, investment decision support, permitting, detailed design, procurement, construction support, commissioning, operational readiness, closure and post-closure performance.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position will see you involved in

  • Serving as Senior Project Manager on complex mining and resources projects, providing senior oversight from concept, feasibility, and permitting through execution, construction support, commissioning, closeout, and closure planning.
  • Leading multidisciplinary project teams across engineering, environmental, geotechnical, hydrogeology, mine water, tailings, permitting, Indigenous engagement, project controls, procurement, construction management, and operations readiness.
  • Leading project definition, business case development, trade-off studies, value improvement initiatives, and investment decision support for mining and infrastructure projects from concept through sanction.
  • Providing client leadership, building trusted relationships with mining companies, resource developers, Indigenous communities, regulators, contractors, and delivery partners.
  • Supporting project strategy, governance, delivery planning, risk management, commercial performance, quality, health and safety, and client satisfaction across major mining portfolios.
  • Partnering with Market Leaders, Business Group Leaders, Relationship Managers, technical specialists, and regional delivery teams to identify, shape, capture, and deliver strategic opportunities across Canada.
  • Leading or supporting the development of capture plans, proposals, scopes, schedules, budgets, commercial terms, project execution plans, and delivery models for major pursuits.
  • Providing direction on project controls, including scope, schedule, budget, change management, forecasting, earned value, risk registers, issue resolution, and reporting.
  • Maintaining a forward-looking view of risks and opportunities, including technical, regulatory, stakeholder, commercial, safety, environmental, constructability, and delivery risks.
  • Ensuring project deliverables meet GHD’s quality requirements, client expectations, regulatory requirements, and applicable professional standards.
  • Promoting GHD’s safety culture and ensuring Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, and Integrated Management System requirements are embedded into project delivery.
  • Collaborating with GHD colleagues across Canada, North America, and globally to bring integrated mining, resources, environmental, engineering, and advisory capability to clients.

What you will bring to the team ?

The ideal candidate will be an experienced mining project leader with a combination of project development, owner's team, consulting, EPCM, or operational experience. They will have demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams through concept development, feasibility, investment decision support, design, execution, commissioning, and operational readiness for complex mining projects. Experience developing business cases, evaluating strategic opportunities, managing project risk, and influencing senior stakeholders is highly valued.

Experience;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geoscience, Environmental Science, Project Management, or a related discipline; a relevant graduate degree is considered an asset.
  • Professional designation in Canada, such as P.Eng., P.Geo., PMP, or equivalent, is preferred.
  • Typically 12+ years of Experience within an owner, operator, major mining company, consulting, EPCM, or integrated project delivery environment, including direct accountability for project development, investment decisions, capital planning, or operational support.
  • Demonstrated experience directing multidisciplinary mining projects such as mine infrastructure, mine water management, tailings and mine waste, closure and reclamation, permitting, environmental assessment, remediation, processing infrastructure, utilities, access roads, or associated civil works.
  • Proven ability to lead major projects or programs through the full lifecycle, including planning, feasibility, design, permitting, procurement, construction support, commissioning, closeout, and operational readiness.
  • Leading diverse teams of engineering, environmental, operational, commercial, financial, regulatory, and stakeholder specialists to evaluate project opportunities and deliver aligned recommendations to executive decision makers.
  • Strong commercial and contractual acumen, including experience managing scope, change, budget, schedule, risk, claims, invoicing, and client expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trusted client relationships and contribute to business development, pursuit strategy, proposal development, and opportunity conversion.
  • Experience working with Canadian mining clients, regulators, Indigenous communities, local communities, contractors, and multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of project governance, quality management, risk management, health and safety, environmental compliance, and project controls best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and align diverse teams around project outcomes.
  • Ability to travel within Canada and, as required, support North American or global mining opportunities.
