About The Role

Corporate Affairs and Communications (CA&C) is a global strategic function that uses a variety of programs and platforms to shape and communicate American Express’ brand message and key business initiatives to shareholders, colleagues and the community-at-large. Our team oversees global public affairs and media relations, social media, colleague communications, and corporate sustainability.

The Manager, Editorial Colleague Communications will work across all aspects of our internal newsroom, including story-mining, editorial calendar management, content creation and amplification. This role will help support the evolution of our intranet into a dynamic, multimedia storytelling platform – shaping how colleagues discover, engage with, and act on the information, stories, programs, and experiences that matter most to them.

We're looking for an experienced communicator who is deeply immersed in the latest social media and content trends and brings a social-first mindset to colleague communications. The Manager should be comfortable experimenting with new formats and creating engaging, bite-sized content across channels – from short-form video and graphics to polls, interactive content, and other emerging formats – while embracing AI-enabled tools and experiences to continually evolve how we engage colleagues. This position reports to the Vice President, Enterprise Editorial & Strategy.

  • Source, develop and produce colleague-centric stories across a range of formats that keep our global audience informed and engaged around the company's business priorities and performance, heritage and culture, and thought leadership.
  • Create content that balances enterprise priorities with fresh, engaging storytelling, bringing strategic judgment and a social-first mindset to how we inform, engage, and at times surprise and delight colleagues.
  • Manage the editorial calendar, coordinating across the internal communications ecosystem to ensure a strategic content cadence.
  • Manage the day-to-day content pipeline and publishing for the #CompanyNews Slack channel.
  • Contribute to a data-informed content strategy by developing analytics reports and sharing relevant insights with our stakeholders to improve content performance YoY.
  • Stay curious and adapt quickly to emerging technologies, including AI, thoughtfully testing new tools and approaches to evolve how we ideate, create, personalize, and measure content.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders across Corporate Affairs & Communications to identify storytelling opportunities, align on priorities, and ensure consistent messaging across channels.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6–8 years of experience in content creation, editorial, journalism or communications at a large, global or publicly traded company, or within an established media organization.
  • Exceptional storytelling skills, with experience translating complex topics into clear, compelling narratives that resonate.
  • Excellent writing and editing ability, paired with a deep understanding of digital publishing, emerging social and content trends, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Experience creating content across multiple formats, including social copy, short-form video, graphics, podcasts, and interactive content.
  • Creative, proactive mindset with a passion for identifying fresh storytelling opportunities and bringing new formats and approaches to life.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across functions, teams and time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with publishing platforms/CMS, analytics and content measurement tools, with the ability to turn insights into compelling colleague communications.
  • Comfort with AI and emerging technologies, with curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring how new tools can enhance content creation and editorial workflows.
