About The Role

Powerex Corp. has an opening for a Front Office Summer Intern/Co-op Student. This program is designed for bright, highly analytical individuals who excelled in their high school and post-secondary education, and who are currently in their second or third years of university studies. If you are a self-starter who is passionate about energy and you have excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills, this may be an opportunity for you. Powerex intends for Co-op Students to return for future Co-op terms or to a permanent Rotational Analyst role following graduation from university.

The Co-Op role is varied as it supports numerous teams throughout Powerex. One candidates’ rotation may not be the same as another’s.

During your Co-Op term you will support one of the teams within Powerex which will give you exposure to some of the unique aspects of our business:

  • Deal sourcing and assessment
  • Risk management; including financial analysis, research, and modeling
  • Market Policy and Compliance
  • Portfolio management; including monthly updating of financial models and providing support to

management teams

  • Salary $58,000 annualized for Second Year, $72,000 Annualized for Third Year Returning Student

Qualifications & Experience

  • The ideal candidate must be enrolled in a University Degree in a highly analytical program such as Commerce (Finance, Accounting), Economics or Engineering. Other desired qualifications/experience include:

  • Naturally high analytical aptitude (e.g. top 5-10% in High School Calculus/Physics with minimal effort)
  • Ability to think critically, with the capacity to multi-task in a high-pressure environment and a desire to learn.
  • Advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Self-aware, humble, and intellectually curious
  • Adaptable to rapidly changing constraints, with quick-thinking skills and an innate sense of urgency
  • Energized by learning new things and engaging across a wide range of issues
  • Logical Thinker
  • Someone who recognizes each person plays a role in the success of a team
  • Competitive as a team member, but not in competition within the team
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, resilient, and determined
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal communication, and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities

Preferred Attributes / Qualities

  • AP Level courses in High School or equivalent (Calculus, Physics, Statistics and Economics)
