Based in Vancouver, this role as Technical Manager, Mechanical, for the Ports & Marine and Coastal team will provide technical and project leadership for mechanical engineering across complex port, marine, coastal, and waterfront infrastructure projects. You will guide technical excellence for the team , support a high-performing practice, and build trusted relationships with local across British Columbia and Canada while connecting multidisciplinary expertise to deliver safe, resilient, and future-ready solutions.

Your Impact

  • Lead the technical delivery of mechanical engineering for ports, marine terminals, coastal infrastructure, and waterfront developments across Canada.
  • Drive technical excellence and accountable project delivery across mechanical systems, material handling, utilities, pumping, fire protection, and specialized marine infrastructure.
  • Strengthen trusted relationships with local port authorities, terminal operators, public agencies, Indigenous communities, contractors, and industry partners.
  • Build, lead and guide a mechanical engineering team through complex technical decisions, design reviews, quality assurance, constructability, risk management, and project execution.
  • Advance sustainable and resilient solutions that improve operational performance, reduce lifecycle impacts, and respond to climate and coastal hazards.
  • Develop people and technical capability.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, with registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia or eligibility to obtain registration.
  • Extensive experience leading mechanical engineering for ports, marine terminals, coastal facilities, waterfront infrastructure, heavy industrial operations, or comparable complex assets.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary technical teams, complex projects, and senior professionals in a consulting environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems relevant to marine and port facilities, including material handling, pumping, utilities, fire protection, equipment integration, and corrosion-resistant design.
  • A record of building trusted client relationships across British Columbia, contributing to proposals, and supporting the development of significant project opportunities.
  • Strong capability in technical governance, quality management, design review, commercial awareness, project risk, constructability, commissioning, and lifecycle performance.
  • Experience working with port authorities, terminal operators, regulators, Indigenous communities, contractors, and other stakeholders in complex operating environments.
  • The ability and willingness to travel to client sites, marine facilities, and project locations as required while meeting applicable health, safety, and security requirements.

Compensation

  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $147,500 - $195,400
  • MB & ON: $134,600 - $184,600
  • NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $133,200 - $176,900
