About The Role

Specialist Biomedical Scientist | Pathology Department | Spire Bushey Hospital | Private Hospital | 6 Month Fixed Term Contract | 37.5hrs per week, Full-Time

Spire Bushey Hospital are looking for a Biomedical Scientist to join our dynamic team on a fixed term contract. The successful candidate will be expected to work in Haematology, Biochemistry and Blood transfusion and support a single departmental on-call service in all three disciplines.

Spire Bushey Hospital forms part of a 4 site portfolio, and is supported by and works alongside Spire Bushey Diagnostic Centre, Elstree Cancer Centre and Spire Pathology Centre – based on Centennial Park in Elstree - just 5 minutes from the main hospital site.

Duties and responsibilities (not limited)

  • As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Pathology, your role is to assist in the organisation, management and development of services across a range of services provided by the laboratory.
  • You will liaise with the Laboratory Consultant and the Pathology Manager, to ensure the provision of the high quality service in an efficient and cost effective manner. Other duties will include, but not be limited to:
  • Analyse, interpret and report information and knowledge related to ideas and concepts.
  • Develop and evaluate the movement of laboratory specimens and blood.
  • Assist with research and development.
  • Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information.

Who we're looking for

  • You must be a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with no restrictions on practice
  • You must be experienced in either Blood Transfusion, Haematology or Chemical Pathology
  • 2 years’ experience post state registration experience is essential
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Contract: 6 -month Fixed term contract
  • Working Pattern : Shifts include 09:00- 17:00 and 12:00 - 20:00, plus Saturday and Sunday 09:00 - 17:00
