Spire Harpenden Hospital is looking for a customer-focused Hospital Porter to join our team on a Bank Contract .

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a friendly and supportive team, providing a vital service across the hospital. As a Bank Porter, you will work on an ad hoc basis, helping to cover periods of increased activity, annual leave and staff absence.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Hospital Porter, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the hospital and supporting the delivery of exceptional patient care.

Your responsibilities will include

• Transporting patients safely and professionally throughout the hospital.
• Assisting clinical teams with patient transfers to and from wards, theatres and diagnostic departments.
• Moving equipment, medical supplies and stock as required.
• Ensuring wheelchairs, trolleys and other equipment are available, clean and maintained.
• Responding promptly to porter requests across the hospital.
• Providing a welcoming, courteous and professional service to patients, visitors and colleagues.
• Adhering to all health and safety, infection prevention and control, and manual handling procedures.
• Maintaining patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Who We're Looking For

• Previous porter, healthcare, customer service, facilities or similar experience is desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A professional, caring and compassionate approach.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Good level of physical fitness, with the ability to undertake manual handling duties safely.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Flexible and reliable approach to work.
• Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and patient care.
