Associate Staff Engineer, Workday integrations

About The Role

REQUIREMENTS

  • Total experience 4+ years
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting end-to-end Workday integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Extend, and Workday Web Services (SOAP/REST)
  • Experience building and maintaining custom applications, orchestrations, and extensions on the Workday Extend platform (Standard and Professional), including custom business objects, APIs, and UI pages.
  • Experience developing and supporting outbound/inbound integrations with third-party and downstream systems (payroll providers, benefits carriers, ATS, financial systems, data warehouses, and middleware platforms such as MuleSoft).
  • Experience applying Workday AI/automation capabilities (e.g., Workday Illuminate, AI Gateway, extend-based ML skills, and intelligent automation features) to streamline processes and enhance integration and reporting workflows.
  • Experience writing and optimizing XSLT, XPath, Groovy, and Workday Custom Report-based transformations for complex data mapping requirements.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting PECI and other payroll/financial interface protocols as needed.
  • Experience building advanced calculated fields, custom reports (including matrix and composite reports), and RaaS (Report-as-a-Service) endpoints for downstream consumption.
  • Experience owning integration security design, including integration system users (ISUs), security groups, X.509 certificates, OAuth 2.0, and API access policies aligned to least-privilege principles.
  • Experience leading technical design sessions, producing integration design documents, and reviewing peer solutions for quality, performance, and maintainability.
  • Experience monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting production integrations; managing incident response, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation.
  • Experience partnering with functional Workday teams (HCM, Payroll, Financials, ATS) to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs.
  • Experience supporting Workday release cycles (semi-annual updates) by assessing impact to integrations, Extend apps, and reports, and coordinating regression testing.
  • Experience with integration event monitoring, alerting, and log analysis tools for proactive issue detection.
  • Experience packaging and promoting Workday configuration/integrations across tenants

RESPONSIBILITIES

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
