About the role

Our drivers are the faces of WM New Zealand in the community, and we’re looking for people who take pride in their work and enjoy the independence of being out on the road.

This is a permanent, full-time role in an essential service industry where reliability, teamwork, and care for safety really matter.

As a Driver, you will be responsible for operating a vehicle and equipment on board to ensure a safe and timely collection of service. You’ll also be required to keep accurate records and paperwork and undertake vehicle safety checks. You will also be driving a range of vehicles including front loaders, sideload and rear load trucks.

About you

At times there may be some heavy lifting so you will need to have a reasonable level of fitness. From previous experience, you’ll already know the importance of health and safety in the workplace, and you’ll champion our culture of making sure everyone gets home safely.

Key responsibilities.

  • Operate heavy vehicles and on-board equipment safely and professionally
  • Collect, transport, and dispose of waste and recyclables
  • Complete daily vehicle safety checks and basic maintenance
  • Use in-cab technology to manage routes, records and paperwork
  • Deliver great service to customers and represent WM with pride
  • Play an active role in our safety-first culture so everyone gets home safely

What you’ll need.

  • A Class 4 NZ licence
  • Moderate heavy vehicle driving experience
  • The ability to work confidently on your own and as part of a team
  • A strong work ethic and commitment to safety
  • Mechanical aptitude and care for equipment
  • Waste industry experience is a bonus, but not essential.
