About The Role

We’re looking for a reliable, safety-focused Cyclic TMO/Labourer to join our team on the West Coast IDC contract. This is a hands-on role where you’ll support traffic management activities and general labouring work across the network, helping keep crews, road users, and the public safe while delivering Good Work every day.
The West Coast IDC contract involves roading maintenance, renewals and operational work for 870kms of state highways within the district, stretching from Haast in the south to Mokihinui in the north, and across to the main divide of the Southern Alps. It is a full-time position, with work carried out across weekdays and, at times, outside normal hours to meet operational needs, weather events, or response requirements.
Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities
- Set up, maintain, monitor, and pack down temporary traffic management sites in line with approved plans and safety requirements.
- Support cyclic maintenance and general labouring tasks across the contract as needed.
- Carry out daily checks of equipment, signs, and site set ups to ensure everything is safe and compliant.
- Work closely with site crews and supervisors to keep jobs running smoothly, safely, and on time.
- Follow all health, safety, and wellbeing requirements, and speak up when something doesn’t look right.

- Experience in temporary traffic management and general labouring or similar.
- A current TMO qualification or relevant traffic management certification.
- A full Class 1 driver licence, with other licence classes or endorsements being advantageous.
- A strong commitment to health, safety, and teamwork.
- Flexibility to turn your hand to different tasks as the day changes.
- A strong sense of community ownership, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A willingness to learn and advance current skills to meet contract objectives.
