About the Role
JioStar is hiring for an Assistant Manager position in the Standard and Practices team. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all content across GEC channels (Tamil) adheres to applicable regulatory frameworks, internal policies, and industry best practices. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to identify, mitigate, and manage content-related risks while supporting creative and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Vet and review all fiction and non-fiction content, films, promos, clips, commercials, and social media assets from a content compliance and risk perspective.
- Proactively identify and flag potential violations of Broadcast compliance codes, internal policies, government and regulatory guidelines, and applicable legal frameworks.
- Safeguard the brand by highlighting risks related to defamation, copyright, trademark, reputational concerns, and other compliance sensitivities.
- Collaborate on a day-to-day basis with cross-functional stakeholders including Content, Marketing, Operations, Legal, and Business teams to ensure smooth and timely compliance clearance.
- Build and maintain strong working knowledge of Indian content regulations and codes applicable to digital and television content (BCCC, IBDF, OTT Content Code, CBFC, ASCI, etc.).
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong command over English and Tamil (written and spoken); working knowledge of any other language is an added advantage.
- Sound understanding of Indian socio-political, religious, and cultural landscapes.
- Sensitivity to local customs, social issues, and human-interest subjects.
- Strong communication, articulation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to interpret content risks clearly and convey feedback in a balanced, solution-oriented manner.
Personal Attributes
- Genuine interest in Tamil and other regional content across TV and OTT platforms, with awareness of current trends in the Indian broadcasting and OTT ecosystem.
- Active consumer of social media content (reels, shorts, stories, etc.).
- Well-informed about current affairs and news developments.
- Detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and accountable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments with tight and evolving broadcast timelines.
Qualification & Experience
- 5 -7 years of relevant work experience.
- Candidates with experience in S&P/Content Compliance, Entertainment Content, or Programming are strongly preferred. (Priority will be given to profiles from existing GEC or OTT S&P teams)
- Profiles from content writing, editing, Journalism, translators, development, or marketing may be considered, provided they have a strong media and compliance orientation.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Media, History, Sociology, Literature, or a related discipline (Preferred, but not mandatory)
