About the role

The Senior Project Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering strategic projects that create value for our customers and organisation. You will lead cross-functional teams, take ownership of project outcomes, and navigate complexity with confidence. Leveraging strong leadership, planning, and communication skills, you will drive successful delivery and ensure alignment with business priorities and portfolio objectives.

Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities

Strategic Focus

  • Lead and inspire project teams to define and deliver complex and large projects (up to $10 million) across the entire lifecycle while being cognizant of the complexity, cost, urgency, risk, and stakeholder value
  • Build strong relationships and actively collaborate across functions to support the achievement of objectives with clear and upfront mutual expectations, including with business customers.

Operational Management

  • Demonstrate proactive and modern ways of working using tools and techniques to achieve high productivity within a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Define project scope, success criteria and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders, accurately interpreting ideas, information and needs
  • Implement effective governance for project tracking and reporting to ensure timely and appropriate decision making.
  • Proactively manage variance and change requests within control mechanisms
  • Plan, control and monitor costs and outcomes to ensure they meet financial objectives.

People Leadership

  • Engage/inspire the project team, delegating appropriately, providing clarity, direction and attention, and maintaining a collegiate and productive work environment while holding the team accountable to meet commitments.

Governance & Risk

  • Comply to broader organisational governance requirements for reporting and tracking purposes
  • Manage Risks and Issues with documentation, to ensure achievement of the best outcomes possible.

Delivery Management

  • Ability to understand key technical changes, work closely with BAs, Tech Analysts, Solution Consultants to manage the delivery of these changes, as well as IT Op readiness and oversee Change Management.
  • Ability to manage tough client stakeholders, write Statements of Work, work with BAs to ensure scope is well managed.

What You'll bring

  • 12+ years’ experience in project management of large and complex projects/programs with End-to-End delivery of projects with technical delivery experience is a must
  • Experienced within financial services, preferably (non-essential) in superannuation, wealth and/or insurance.
  • Highly developed skills in planning, risk & issue management, stakeholder management and governance
  • Strong core Project Management disciplines - time, cost, scope and quality
  • Understanding of delivery framework and ability to uplift the framework and upskill junior Project Managers
  • Strong Stakeholder management, scope management and financial management
  • Proactive and dynamic leadership skills and capability to lead multiple teams across diverse platforms
  • Excellent organisational skills - can quickly and effectively mobilise time, budget and resources (clients and project team members) to meet requirements
  • Excellent, clear and precise written communication and formal documentation
  • Ability to build rapport, credibly and effectively at all levels.
