About The Role

Create your best future and join Westpac as an Analysis Capability Lead

At Westpac, we're undertaking a transformation of unprecedented scale and complexity.

Through our UNITE function, we're bringing together multiple strategic initiatives into a single transformation programme focused on simplifying our technology landscape and enhancing how we serve customers across Retail and Small Business Banking.

What’s the role?

As part of this journey, we're seeking an Analysis Capability Lead to establish and lead a newly created capability function that will play a critical role in the success of the programme. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of Business Analysis and Data Analysis while influencing the capability, engagement and effectiveness of a workforce of approximately 200 analysts.

You'll establish and lead the Analyst Capability function, bringing together Business Analysts and Data Analysts into a unified community focused on capability excellence, consistency and continuous improvement.

Working closely with senior leaders across the Unite programme, you'll be responsible for building a high-performing analyst community, setting enterprise-wide standards and practices, and ensuring our analysts have the capability, tools and support required to deliver outcomes that meet that meet regulatory, audit and executive expectations.

As a key member of the leadership team, you'll also play an important role in shaping the future of the analyst profession within UNITE, fostering innovation, driving capability uplift and championing the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance productivity, quality and delivery outcomes.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Establishing consistent analysis practices, methodologies, governance and delivery standards across the programme.
  • Driving workforce capability, engagement, succession planning and career development across a large analyst community.
  • Ensuring requirements, analysis artefacts and documentation meet quality, compliance, regulatory and audit expectations.
  • Building and maintaining a strong talent pipeline, partnering closely with recruitment teams to attract, retain and develop top talent.
  • Partnering with Release Trains and delivery leaders to ensure analyst capability is deployed effectively and contributes maximum business value.
  • What do I need?
  • We're looking for a people-focused leader who is passionate about building capability, developing talent and creating high-performing teams within complex enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience leading large analyst, business analysis or capability functions within large organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading leaders, developing talent and driving engagement, performance and culture across sizeable teams.
  • Strong Business Analysis expertise with a deep understanding of best-practice analysis disciplines, governance and delivery standards.
  • A track record of building workforce capability, succession pipelines and high-performing teams at scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to improve productivity, quality and delivery outcomes.

You'll be recognised as an influential and collaborative leader who can balance strategic workforce planning with operational delivery. Passionate about developing people and building thriving professional communities, you'll foster a culture of continuous improvement, challenge constructively to drive better outcomes, and build trusted relationships across Business, Technology and Transformation teams.

Most importantly, you'll bring the leadership, vision and commitment required to create a high-performing analyst community that supports one of Australia's most significant banking transformation programmes.
