As a Software Engineer in CEAI, you will join a dynamic team dedicated to building innovative AI solutions that enrich employee experiences, reinvent customer engagement, and reshape business processes. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and systems to support our business goals. You will work in a collaborative, growth-mindset environment, leveraging Microsoft’s cutting-edge AI stack—including Copilot, LLMs, and cloud-native technologies—to deliver scalable, secure, and high-impact products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, be detail-oriented, and possess excellent problem-solving skills. Our engineers are empowered to experiment, learn, and drive measurable impact across Microsoft’s global commercial ecosystem. This role sits on the Payout Journal team within the Rewards Core Platform. We build and operate the data platform that processes partner and seller incentive data end to end—ingesting from a broad set of upstream sources, transforming it into standardized business entities, and delivering the trusted, auditable datasets used to calculate and report partner earnings. Because this is financial data, correctness, data quality, timeliness, and a defensible audit trail are core engineering requirements. Our stack spans Scala and Spark on Azure Synapse, C# services and Azure Functions, and Azure Data Explorer (Kusto). ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure software solutions for AI-powered products and services within the Commercial Business. Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product managers, data scientists, data engineers and UX designers—to deliver end-to-end features from concept to production. Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and contribute to engineering best practices. Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to optimize performance, reliability, and developer productivity. Write well-documented, high-quality, and maintainable code. Ensure solutions adhere to Microsoft’s Responsible AI principles, compliance, and security standards. Engage in agile development processes, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and regular team syncs. Contribute to a culture of inclusion, innovation, and technical excellence within the AIT organization. QualificationsBasic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Spark, C#, Java, TypeScript).Experience building scalable cloud solutions, distributed systems, and large-scale data platforms on Azure.Knowledge of AI/ML, LLMs, and Microsoft's AI ecosystem, including Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio, and Copilot technologies.Familiarity with modern engineering practices, including Git, DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude.Understanding of security, compliance, and Responsible AI principles in software development.Problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills with experience working in agile, cross-functional teams.Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, drive innovation, and deliver results in fast-paced environments. Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,400 - $168,100 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $111,100 - $183,700 per year.
