Summary of Job Duties
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II (MLS II) receives specimens from IP, OP Clinics, External Entities, and UAMS Health Regional Programs. The MLS II verifies each specimen has proper collection and labeling, and each test is received in the correct tube type.
This Position’s schedule is Monday Thru Friday 10:30 am to 7:00pm
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, or an ASCP approved discipline.
- - Minimum 2 years of experience in a Clinical Laboratory
- -ASCP certification or equivalent
Additional Information
Job Requirements
- Sends out specimens to referral laboratories according to hospital and laboratory policies and in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Enters results from referral laboratories into the laboratory information system. Assists clients with ordering the correct reference tests and performs research into potential new referral laboratories.
- Consults with pathologists and other experts as needed for reference test requests.
- Assists with inventory needs.
- Process add-on tests, answers phone calls concerning results, fax reports, collect specimens and order tests.
- The MLS II is responsible for calling critical results to licensed personnel in a timely manner.
- This position is responsible for coordinating incoming calls to the laboratory.
- This position is responsible for making sure all necessary forms or reports are received by requesting providers.
- Perform other duties as needed.
