About The Role

The Workday Finance Director leads large-scale Finance Transformation initiatives enabled by the Workday Financial Management platform. The role is responsible for business development, solution leadership, client relationship management, delivery oversight, and development of high-performing consulting teams.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Engagement Leadership

As a Director in our Workday practice , you will lead the Workday Finance offering for Deloitte New Zealand including managing Workday Finance transformation programs from strategy through implementation.

Your role will include managing program risks, issues, and delivering outstanding quality to our clients, while managing executive stakeholder engagement and governance.

You will position yourself as a trusted advisor to CFOs, Finance Directors, and Finance Transformation leaders.

Workday Finance Solution Leadership

As part of this role, you will be expected to provide leadership across the growth of our Workday Finance team in New Zealand. Especially around General Ledger, Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable, Procurement (in collaboration with our Procurement advisory team), Revenue Management, and Projects / Asset Management.

You will guide the solution design decisions and ensure alignment to business objectives and also review and approve solution architecture and future-state operating models.

The role will be supported and supplemented by our existing Workday Adaptive Planning team and our HCM team.

Business Development

A key part of your role will be to develop Workday Finance go-to-market strategies and lead sales pursuits and proposal development.

It is essential that you identify leads and build relationships with Workday AEs and alliance teams, creating regular meeting cadences and identify together opportunities for follow-on work and account expansion.

Practice Leadership

You will demonstrate leadership through the development of people, capabilities, and market presence. Success in this area includes mentoring and coaching managers, consultants, and solution architects, collaborating with the HCM and Adaptive Planning practices, enhancing Workday Finance methodologies and accelerators, supporting recruitment and workforce planning initiatives, and contributing to Deloitte's thought leadership, industry profile, and go-to-market capabilities.

  • 10–15+ years' experience in Finance Transformation, ERP, or consulting.
  • Significant experience as a Workday Financial Lead with depth in Finance and capability across broader ERP process areas.
  • Hands-on experience delivering full lifecycle ERP implementations, from design and configuration through testing, cutover, deployment, and post-go-live support.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end ERP processes, cross-functional dependencies, and integration with adjacent business and technology domains.
  • Ability to lead independently, solve complex problems proactively, and deliver effectively within structured programme environments.
  • Strong client-facing communication, stakeholder management, relationship-building, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to coach, support, and uplift junior team members.
  • A growth mindset, with a commitment to continuous learning on Workday.

Success is demonstrated through sustainable revenue growth and pipeline development, the successful delivery of Workday Finance programmes, high levels of client satisfaction and executive stakeholder confidence, ongoing enhancement of practice capabilities, and the engagement, development, and retention of high-performing team members.
