Heavy Equipment Mechanic

About The Role
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and other motorized equipment.
- Diagnose and repair issues involving hydraulics, electronics, small engines, air conditioning, and other mechanical systems .
- Complete work orders accurately and document mileage, hours, dates, and repair details.
- Follow all applicable safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly work area, including tools and equipment.
- Work with the Shop Foreman to prioritize and address emergency repairs.
- Minimize equipment downtime and complete repairs in a timely manner.
- Travel as needed for work-related training, meetings, or assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of hands-on maintenance experience with heavy equipment, trailers, cranes, trucks, or similar equipment.
- 5+ years of experience in at least two technical areas , including hydraulics, electronics, small engines, air conditioning, or other related mechanical systems.
- High School Diploma/GED plus trade school, dealership, or factory service training equivalent to an associate degree.
- Training and experience equivalent to 2 years of technical/vocational school and 5 years of hands-on repair and maintenance of heavy equipment .
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize work and respond with a sense of urgency when needed.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to understand, write, and communicate effectively.
- Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Professional certifications related to heavy equipment maintenance and repair are preferred.
- Ability to obtain additional certifications as required.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, walking, standing, sitting, and carrying materials or parts.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to work extended hours when required.
- Regularly lift up to 50 pounds .
- Assistance is required for items weighing more than 75 pounds or items that present ergonomic challenges during lifting, movement, or placement.
