Position Overview

We are currently recruiting an QHSE Engineer to support our activities in the semiconductor industry with one of our major clients, a leading global manufacturer of innovative production systems for the semiconductor industry, supporting their customers in the Dresden area. The QHSE Engineer is part of a European team and responsible for managing and coordinating activities on QHSE matters within the assigned region.

Please note no travel / accommodation expenses can be claimed so candidates will ideally need to live within 50km of the site or are able to fund their own travel /accommodation or relocation themselves to Dresden.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with local regulations pertaining to product compliance, environmental safety and safety, handling all contact with appropriate agencies.
  • Ensure that appropriate and speedy corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards are identified.
  • Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments of facilities, machinery, and equipment to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Establish an efficient working relationship with all internal department on QHSE subjects, ensure the safety of on-field personnel working at customer sites and manage incident related escalations,
  • Support in driving excellence and continuous improvement in all elements of QHSE,
  • Implement company training programs for employees in areas such as compliance training, hazardous material handling, emergency response, hygiene, and safety,
  • Monitor QHSE activities within the Region; prepare deliver required status reports; monitor and analyse key safety performance indicators, compile reports, and present findings to management, highlighting areas of improvement.
  • Maintain a high level of technical and regulatory knowledge to provide constant support on QHSE subjects within the Region.
  • Assist in the development and periodic updating of emergency response plans, ensuring the readiness of the organisation in emergency situations.
  • Establish trusting relationships internally and with external contacts, respects diversity and collaborate with the team and colleagues effectively.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel. Travel to domestic and international customer sites to support essential therefore EU work authorisation and eligibility required.
  • First (Bachelors, degree) / Subject Diploma IOSH/NEBOSH/CQA/IMEA/Sifa, engineering or equivalent level of knowledge/experience through other routes (apprenticeships, previous employment etc).
  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Engineer or a similar role in an engineering setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify potential hazards and develop effective preventive measures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish cross-functional collaboration and train employees on safety procedures.
  • Proficient in using various software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and industry-specific safety management systems.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Good Communication skills: Communicates effectively through agreed and appropriate communications channels.
  • Works independently with minimal guidance from a Specialist or Manager
  • Does not generally supervise others (other than in a project context) but acts as a subject matter expert and coaches/ mentors, others.
  • High focus on Safety, Quality and Compliance standards
  • • Fluent knowledge of German and English language is essential, both written and oral.
  • Knowledge of Mandarin / Taiwanese is a strong plus.
  • An indepth knowledge of German specific safety law is required.
