As our Data Centre business continues to grow in Germany, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Package Manager to join our project delivery team.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of significant mechanical packages on major mission-critical data centre projects , working within an experienced international engineering and construction team.

The Role

As Mechanical Package Manager, you will take responsibility for the delivery of assigned mechanical packages from construction planning and procurement through installation, testing, commissioning and final handover.

You will coordinate site teams, subcontractors, vendors, engineering, QA/QC, EHS, planning and commissioning functions to ensure your package is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required technical and quality standards .

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of mechanical packages across major data centre projects.
  • Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, specialist vendors, labour, materials and site resources.
  • Manage installation of mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water, cooling systems, pipework, plant rooms and associated mechanical services .
  • Review mechanical drawings, P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate closely with Electrical, CSA, BIM, Engineering and Commissioning teams to manage interfaces and sequencing.
  • Develop and manage short-term look-ahead programmes aligned with the overall construction schedule.
  • Monitor progress against programme milestones and identify risks, constraints and recovery actions.
  • Ensure mechanical installations comply with project QA/QC procedures, inspection requirements and approved documentation.
  • Support procurement activities, material take-offs, technical submittals and management of long-lead equipment.
  • Chair package and subcontractor coordination meetings and drive actions through to completion.
  • Manage technical queries, design changes, site issues and package interfaces.
  • Support commercial teams with scope changes, variations and package performance.
  • Drive mechanical systems through pre-commissioning, testing, commissioning, snagging and handover .
  • Ensure accurate as-built, commissioning and handover documentation is completed.
  • Maintain the highest standards of health, safety, quality and environmental performance throughout delivery.
  • Provide clear progress and performance reporting to project leadership.

About You

We are looking for an experienced mechanical construction professional who can take ownership of a complex package and drive delivery within a fast-paced mission-critical environment.

You will ideally have

  • 5+ years' experience within mechanical construction, package management or project delivery.
  • Previous experience working with a recognised M&E / MEP contractor, main contractor or specialist mechanical contractor .
  • Experience delivering Data Centre, Mission Critical, Semiconductor, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Industrial or other technically complex projects .
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services including HVAC, chilled water, cooling, pipework and mechanical plant .
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Versorgungstechnik / TGA , or a recognised mechanical trade qualification supported by relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable experience managing mechanical subcontractors and multidisciplinary construction teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, QA/QC, testing, commissioning and project handover.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, P&IDs, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and construction/project management systems.
  • Fluent professional English suitable for working within an international project environment.
  • Experience working on construction projects in Germany and familiarity with German TGA delivery requirements and VOB/B contractual environments would be advantageous.
  • German language capability would also be beneficial but is not essential unless specifically required by the individual project.
