Who We Are
Founded in 2021, Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM) is a nonprofit, four-year MD program that will enhance traditional medical education with the arts, humanities, and whole health principles. The school’s culture embraces self-care to empower students to care for their own well-being as well as their patients’. The school’s state-of-the-art medical education facility is located in Bentonville, Arkansas on the Crystal Bridges campus, home to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and Heartland Whole Health Institute. The school has been granted preliminary accreditation status by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
About The Position
The Marketing Manager is responsible for executing integrated marketing, digital communications, social media, recruitment marketing, and website content strategies for Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM). This position serves as the primary owner of AWSOM's marketing ecosystem and leads audience engagement efforts across social media, digital advertising, website content, and recruitment-focused campaigns.
Working closely with the Director, Marketing and Communications, Editorial Manager, and shared services partners, this role ensures AWSOM's marketing initiatives are effectively deployed across owned digital channels and aligned with institutional priorities, brand standards, and recruitment goals. The position serves as AWSOM's primary liaison to the shared services web and photo/video teams and supports campaign execution through data-informed decision making and performance analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing & Campaign Management
- Develops and executes integrated marketing campaigns supporting student recruitment, institutional awareness, events, and strategic priorities.
- Coordinates campaign deployment across digital, social media, email, and website channels.
- Manages recruitment marketing initiatives and prospective student engagement campaigns.
- Coordinates promotion of webinars, admissions events, and recruitment activities.
- Supports audience development and engagement initiatives.
- Manages campaign timelines, deliverables, and performance measurement.
- Coordinates development of recruitment collateral and campaign materials.
- Supports awareness-building initiatives that advance institutional goals and priorities.
Social Media Strategy & Management
- Leads AWSOM's social media presence across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and emerging platforms.
- Develops and maintains the social media content calendar in collaboration with the Editorial Manager.
- Coordinates deployment of editorial content through social media channels.
- Creates channel-specific social media plans that support institutional goals.
- Manages audience engagement and community management activities.
- Monitors social media trends, audience sentiment, and competitor activity.
- Supports executive and leadership social media initiatives.
- Coordinates promotion of news stories, blogs, events, campaigns, and institutional initiatives across social channels.
- Oversees paid social media advertising campaigns.
- Tracks performance and recommends optimization strategies.
- Develops social media analytics, reporting, and audience growth insights.
Website Content Development & Management
- Serves as AWSOM's primary website content manager and institutional liaison to the shared services web team.
- Develops and maintains website content strategy in alignment with recruitment, awareness, and institutional goals.
- Coordinates website editorial planning in collaboration with the Editorial Manager.
- Maintains accurate and current recruitment-related content, including admissions information, webinars, events, campus visits, and application resources.
- Coordinates updates for program, curriculum, faculty, leadership, and institutional information.
- Submits, prioritizes, and manages website update requests through the shared services web team.
- Provides content, requirements, and business needs for new web pages, landing pages, and site enhancements.
- Coordinates implementation of news stories, blog content, feature stories, and campaign content developed through the editorial process.
- Partners with the shared services web team to support content publishing, CMS workflows, and site maintenance activities.
- Reviews website content regularly to ensure accuracy, consistency, timeliness, and brand alignment.
- Collaborates with the shared services web team on SEO best practices and content optimization efforts.
- Utilizes web analytics and performance data to identify opportunities for content improvement, recruitment engagement, and audience growth.
- Evaluates website user experience from a content and communications perspective and provides recommendations for enhancements.
- Coordinates updates to faculty, staff, and leadership directories.
- Partners with the shared services web team to support website accessibility compliance and content standards.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for AWSOM stakeholders regarding website content needs and priorities.
Digital Advertising & Audience Development
- Manages digital advertising campaigns across search, display, social media, and other digital platforms.
- Coordinates paid recruitment marketing initiatives.
- Develops audience targeting and segmentation strategies.
- Monitors campaign performance metrics and conversion goals.
- Optimizes campaigns based on performance data and institutional goals.
- Evaluates channel effectiveness and recommends media investments.
- Supports lead generation, engagement, and enrollment-related marketing initiatives.
Analytics & Reporting
- Develops regular reports related to website performance, social media performance, digital advertising, recruitment marketing campaigns, and audience growth.
- Analyzes trends and provides recommendations for improvement.
- Supports departmental KPI tracking and campaign assessment.
- Monitors performance against strategic marketing objectives.
- Leverages data insights to inform channel, content, and campaign decisions.
Marketing Operations & Coordination
- Coordinates marketing project workflows across internal staff and shared services partners.
- Manages requests related to website updates, social media campaigns, marketing initiatives, and digital communications projects.
- Ensures alignment between marketing campaigns and the editorial calendar.
- Coordinates with shared services teams to obtain photography, videography, graphic design, and other creative assets needed for campaigns.
- Supports implementation and stewardship of AWSOM brand standards across digital platforms.
- Assists with vendor coordination and project implementation as assigned.
- Supports event marketing initiatives and promotional communications.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, Journalism, Business, or related field, required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in marketing, digital communications, social media, website content management, or related field, required.
- Experience managing social media platforms, digital advertising campaigns, and website content strategies, required.
- Experience utilizing website analytics, social media insights, and performance reporting tools, required.
- Experience managing content within a content management system (CMS), required.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and digital marketing tactics.
- Experience in higher education, healthcare, academic medicine, or nonprofit organizations, preferred.
- Experience supporting recruitment marketing initiatives, preferred.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and digital content compliance, preferred.

Work Environment : Work is performed full-time (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) in a professional, climate-controlled office environment with standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and telephones. This role requires working in an open setting near colleagues. The noise level is typically low to moderate. The role also requires interaction with both the public and internal team members in a professional and courteous manner. Some local travel will be required, and a flexible schedule may be necessary to accommodate business needs, including occasional evening and weekend work hours.
