About The Role

The Opportunity

Avantor is looking for an organized, experienced Maintenance Planner & Scheduler to optimize our NuSil team and deliver results on some of the most complex business and technology initiatives.

This is a full-time position based at our Bakersfield, CA facility. You will oversee the development of the weekly work schedule and support the Maintenance Supervisors in developing the daily work schedule. If you have experience in maintenance planning and scheduler training– let’s talk!

Work Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, 6:00 am-2:30 pm with additional hours and weekends as needed.

What we’re looking for

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience : 3-5 years of experience in similar facility maintenance/operations, including maintenance planning and scheduling training. Previous experience in maintenance planning and scheduling using CMMS and at least 3 years’ experience in a direct maintenance and reliability-related environment.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a mechanic with knowledge and experience in preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Collaboration Tool: Project management applications, CMMS software, SAP Purchasing module, and Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite); Maintenance Connection or similar CMMS experience required.
  • Ability to read and analyze equipment procedures and manufacturer recommendations. Ability to present scheduling information and respond to manufacturing questions from employees.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Ability to write maintenance status reports and correspond with production staff as needed. Respond to all email correspondence in Microsoft Outlook promptly.

How you will thrive and create an impact

  • Create, monitor, collect, and update progress on the maintenance schedule for all equipment resources within the scope of the manufacturing area; includes sequencing Preventative Maintenance and Service Requests based on daily short-term CMMS review.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for site R&M planning to support production demand.
  • Create and maintain PM database.
  • Master data creation and maintenance within CMMS and other R&M tools.
  • Coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, and QA to resolve equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with MFG and materials management to ensure timely release of equipment and shift carryover requirements.
  • Drive communication of equipment status with MFG and site leadership.
  • Assign all RM and WO to maintenance mechanics based on a comprehensive understanding of individual skill sets.
  • Manage scheduling for emergency downtime and repair.
  • Establish maintenance planning time fences and policies for time fence management.
  • Collaborate with purchasing to expedite components.
  • Create and maintain stock levels on critical spare parts and update in CMMS or other tracking system.
  • Function as point person for lead time and repair of equipment by outside vendors and contractors.
  • Knowledge of performing cumulative lead time analysis.
  • Effectively communicate the reliability perspective in cross-functional meetings.
  • Lead, participate in, and support Maintenance Excellence programs and related Goals.
  • Monitors adherence to schedule; oversees root cause directives to improve schedule adherence, including Equipment Downtime and Schedule Break-In metrics for the maintenance team.
  • Supports and drives asset management for SAP.
  • Embraces NuSil culture by mentoring R&M staff and mechanics on key workflows and performance standards related to planning and scheduling.
  • Facilitates employees’ engagement through empowerment and ownership of leader standard work for the success of all.
  • Inspires and motivates others through continuous employee development, ensuring the area stays energized and performs at a sustainably elevated level.
  • Actively uses the rewards and recognition programs for individuals and/or teams and celebrates the area’s accomplishments.

Pay Transparency

  • The expected pre-tax pay for this position is
  • $52,000.00 - $83,950.00 Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
