About The Role

  • We are looking for a talented Product Engineer to join our team in Eaton Cummins Joint Venture (ECJV): Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies in Galesburg, MI.
  • This role is an employee of the Eaton Cummins Joint Venture (ECJV): Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies. Internal candidates are defined as employees of the ECJV.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways

Drive Data-Driven Product Decisions: Apply statistical analysis, design of experiments, regression modeling, and engineering data interpretation to evaluate performance, reduce uncertainty, and support informed product development decisions.

Lead Cross-Functional Design Integration: Translate stakeholder and customer requirements into effective product designs, facilitating design reviews and aligning engineering solutions with business, manufacturing, and customer needs.

Develop Robust Mechanical Systems: Design innovative and reliable mechanical systems that meet performance, durability, manufacturability, and lifecycle requirements while exceeding customer expectations.

Advance Product Reliability and Quality: Proactively identify potential failure modes, assess product risks, and implement preventive design improvements that enhance reliability, reduce warranty exposure, and improve customer satisfaction.

Leverage Modeling, Simulation, and Controls Expertise: Utilize simulation tools, system modeling, and controls knowledge to predict product behavior, optimize system performance, and validate design concepts before implementation.

Manage Product Requirements and System Integration: Define, allocate, and manage requirements while coordinating interfaces across complex systems to ensure seamless integration and successful product execution.

Deliver Product Validation and Technical Excellence: Develop validation strategies, evaluate analytical and physical test results, and provide technical recommendations that verify product capability and support key engineering decisions.

Collaborate to Solve Complex Challenges: Partner across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and business functions to communicate effectively, resolve technical issues, drive continuous improvement, and deliver successful product outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will need the following

  • Mechanical Design & Development Expertise: Knowledge of gear and shaft design, analysis, validation, and transmission systems to develop reliable, high-performing components that meet customer and business requirements.
  • Problem-Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Ability to diagnose complex product and field issues, leverage engineering analysis, and implement effective corrective actions that improve product quality, durability, and performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to partner with manufacturing, operations, supply chain, suppliers, customer engineering, and technical service teams to ensure seamless product development, launch, and ongoing support.
  • Customer & Field Focus: Experience supporting field investigations and translating customer and operational feedback into design improvements that enhance product reliability, serviceability, and overall customer satisfaction.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Entry level/Early career professional. Preferred candidates would have relevant experience working in either a temporary student employment environment (intern, co-op, or other extracurricular team activities) or as an early career professional in a relevant technical discipline area. Knowledge of MS Office tools is also preferred

The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
