About The Role
General Description and Classification Standards
The office of watershed protection requires a civil engineer with knowledge of stormwater management to assist in the design and construction of the stormwater Capital Improvement Program (CIP), as well as asset management, project prioritization, engineering design and standards review.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.
- Assists in the design of stormwater infrastructure projects; develop cost estimates for projects while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Represents the City of Atlanta as the owner's representative for the Office of Watershed Protection construction projects. Responds to emails and phone calls from citizens concerning the City’s environmental and stormwater regulations.
- Provides as needed expertise and input during wet weather events.
- Attends field investigations and site visits.
- Provides design services to the Department of Watershed Management as well as all other requesting City of Atlanta Offices to support their operational activities.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

- Knowledge of surveying, engineering, and construction methods; knowledge of planning, engineering design, and project management.
- Skilled in the use of software to create well-structured reports, spreadsheets, presentations, proposals, and other documents.
- Skilled in preparing effective and strong oral and written communication.
- Skilled in AutoCAD design software
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships at all organizational levels, as well as with the public.
- Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when dealing with difficult or sensitive situations.
- Ability to work effectively, as part of a team to ensure team and business goals are met effectively and efficiently.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering
