This Opportunity
WSP is looking for a full-time, Early Career Civil Transportation Engineer for our Albuquerque office . Be involved in exciting and innovative projects with our Transportation Engineering Team and join a growing organization full of opportunity. Take part in providing local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector.

Join a team where you will get to learn from experts in the field and contribute to the most important transportation projects in the region. Tasks may include assistance with research, concept development, design, and construction of transportation civil infrastructure.
Your Impact
- Assist and support design teams in the execution of project delivery
- Provide technical input during various stages of projects, including preliminary design, final design, construction and contract documentation including cost estimates and specifications
- Perform basic design tasks and drawings using computer-aided design (CADD) to develop conceptual transportation projects in AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads
- Perform standard computations and analysis
- Discuss and propose solutions to technical issues
- Collect data and gather information or documents
- Bring fresh ideas and innovative ways to solve problems
- Attend design meetings and coordinate with team members
- Develop memorandums and other written technical documents
- Maintain positive team relationships and contribute to a collaborative culture
- Assist and coordinate with key staff across disciplines (i.e. drainage, structures) as required
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
- Engineer in Training Certification (or ability to obtain one in 6 months).
- Great interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others.
- Self-starter with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Desire to learn and develop skill set.
- Passion for improving transportation systems.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, software, technology, and tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Uphold workplace safety and abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, OpenRoads).
- Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.
- A member of and/or actively participates in local professional practice organizations.
