About The Role
Job Title: Truck Driver – Short Distance
Job Summary
Truck drivers operate heavy trucks to transport goods and materials on the short distance/local routs. Truck drivers will perform some shipping/receiving activities such as loading and unloading trucks, prepare documentations, performing safety checks on the vehicles
Responsibility

Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.

Familiarity with McLaren’s Business Management System (BMS).

Operate and drive company fleet to transport goods and material to destinations.

Oversee all aspects of vehicles, such as condition of equipment, loading and unloading, and safety and security of cargo.

Perform daily pre-trip inspection of vehicle systems and equipment such as tires, lights, and brakes.

Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures

Record cargo information, distance traveled, fuel consumption, and other information in logbook.

Exhibit safe and courteous driving habits which exclude preventable motor vehicle collisions.

Maintain an acceptable level of performance for scheduled pick-up and delivery times.

Report defects, accidents or violations

Coordinate the staging of shipments according to customer pull signals or shipping schedules.

Prepare all shipping documentation in accordance with customer and export requirements including barcodes, commercial invoices, bills-of-lading, and packing lists.

Arrange shipment of material to required destination in a timely manner .

Drive hi-lo and load/unload trucks as required .
Academic/Educational Requirements
- -
- HS Diploma and at least 1 year of related experience. CDL-B license required . CDL-A preferred.
Required Skills/Experience
- -
- Intermediate computer skills.
- -
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
- -
- Previous automotive/shipping background preferred
- -
- Basic knowledge of MRP and computer systems.
- -
- Knowledge of IFS would be beneficial.
- -
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- -
- Ability to operate a forklift. Must be licensed.
- -
- Able to work as a team.
- -
- Able to work quickly and efficiently.
- -
- Positive attitude with high energy.
