The Civil and Structural -Infrastructure team sits at the heart of our programme delivery capability, providing the infrastructure, engineering leadership and technical integration that support the development of our pioneering SMR power stations. Working across multiple programmes and disciplines, the team combines technical excellence, innovation and collaboration to create safe, efficient and future-ready solutions.

In this context, we are looking for a Senior Manager Civil & Structural - Infrastructure to support our site-specific designs , under the direction of Annaliza Khoo and Paul Hankins . Leading a multidisciplinary team of up to 30 engineers, specialists, partners and suppliers, this role will provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for infrastructure design and delivery across Rolls-Royce SMR's site development programmes. This is a highly influential role that will help establish the engineering foundations for one of the UK's most exciting clean energy programmes.

We'll need you to

  • Providing technical leadership and governance for all civil infrastructure systems across site development programmes, including roads and networks, drainage, culverts, bridges, retaining walls and coastal structures.
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams, developing engineering capability and creating an environment where safety, wellbeing, collaboration and professional growth are prioritised.
  • Managing the delivery of infrastructure work packages to agreed programme, cost, quality and safety objectives whilst maintaining technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Driving the resolution of complex engineering challenges and ensuring effective integration between infrastructure systems, plant design teams and wider programme stakeholders.

More specifically, we'll look to you for

  • Developing and implementing infrastructure design strategies that support site development and deployment objectives.
  • Managing internal engineering teams, external design partners, consultancies and supply chain organisations to achieve programme outcomes
  • Establishing and monitoring technical, programme and performance metrics to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Leading design reviews, technical assessments and governance activities in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting the development and continual improvement of engineering processes, methodologies and ways of working across the civil and structural function.
  • Ensuring conventional health, safety and environmental considerations are embedded throughout infrastructure design activities.
  • Building effective relationships across engineering disciplines and with external stakeholders to support successful project integration.
  • Coaching and mentoring engineers at all levels, supporting professional development and progression towards chartership and technical leadership positions.
  • Supporting wider departmental objectives and contributing to the growth and maturity of the Civil & Structural Engineering function.
  • As you can see, this is a pivotal leadership role within our business. You'll combine technical authority, commercial awareness and people leadership with a collaborative mindset, helping to shape both our infrastructure capability and the future success of Rolls-Royce SMR.

We're looking for

  • Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) supported by a relevant engineering degree qualification, or equivalent demonstrable industry experience.
  • We'll ask about your experience leading large multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex infrastructure packages across nuclear, energy, transportation or major infrastructure programmes.
  • Extensive civil infrastructure design expertise, including practical application of engineering standards, governance processes and design assurance activities.
  • Demonstrable experience integrating infrastructure solutions into complex industrial, power generation or large-scale development projects.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders, suppliers and delivery partners whilst leading, coaching and developing diverse engineering teams.
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement within a high-performing engineering environment.

Location

We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements and welcome applications from across the UK. Travel to Rolls-Royce SMR offices, partner organisations and programme locations will be required on a regular basis.

  • We anticipate paying a salary of between £71,000-93,200
  • Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 17%

Selection Process

We expect the selection process to consist of an introductory conversation with the Talent Acquisition team followed by technical and leadership-based assessment stages. We will communicate timelines and next steps to shortlisted candidates as the process progresses.

Due to the requirements of the nuclear industry, successful candidates will be required to complete

  • Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance.
  • A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • A financial probity check.
