An exciting opportunity to join our Medical Team. As MSL, your roles will be to lead scientific engagement with their Medical Experts, implement clinical and educational strategies and respond to unsolicited medical enquiries.

The Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) acts as a scientific ambassador, enabling high quality, peer to peer scientific exchange with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and Medical Experts (MEs), typically within one TA (Therapeutic Area), but with the flexibility to support multiple TA assets when required. The role exists to strengthen Novartis’ scientific presence, support evidence based decision making, and inform medical strategy through high quality insight generation. MSLs provide deep therapeutic area and product understanding, translate emerging science into meaningful dialogue, and support internal teams with clinical data interpretation. MSL is field-based role and needs to operate primarily in the field, the MSL bridges scientific needs from clinical practice with internal strategy to improve patient outcomes and reinforce Novartis’ reputation for scientific excellence.

Job Description

Major accountabilities

  • Build and execute Medical Expert (ME) engagement plans aligned with therapeutic area priorities.
  • Conduct scientific, evidence-based exchange with HCPs/MEs and communicate new clinical data and publications.
  • Identify, map, and engage key experts to address medical needs, scientific questions, and evidence gaps.
  • Support medical education activities, scientific meetings, symposia, and educational initiatives.
  • Gather and communicate external insights to inform medical strategy and address unmet patient needs.
  • Support clinical research by identifying study sites and facilitating collaboration for effective study execution.
  • Build strong partnerships with experts, scientific societies, and academic institutions while serving as a trusted scientific resource.
  • Ensure all activities comply with regulatory and governance requirements, with accurate documentation and reporting.

Requirements

  • MD, PharmD, Pharmacist, PHD and other life sciences with solid medical/technical background and proven competencies influencing skills, clinical research insight, business, and market knowledge .
  • Strong and sustainable performance track record.
  • Strong demonstration of cross functional collaboration.
  • Previous experience in the Neuroscience Therapeutic Area is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and foster peer-to-peer, credible relationships with health care professionals.
  • Externally focused with proven exceptional external customer focus and building strong relationship with KOLs.
  • Sound knowledge of the Healthcare System and of the research procedures as well as the ICH guidelines, GCP and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Ability to synthesize recent scientific information, analyze them within strategic and regulatory settings.
