About The Role

Job Purpose

To perform field surveys of mechanical equipment, collecting and validating equipment identification, technical and operational data from site. The role requires a sound practical understanding of rotating machinery, static equipment, valves and wellhead equipment, together with the ability to correctly identify equipment types, read TAG labels and nameplates, and recognize key equipment characteristics and components

Main Responsibilities

Conduct field surveys of mechanical equipment in oil & gas and industrial facilities, including rotating machinery, static equipment, valves and wellhead equipment.

Identify equipment types and configurations in the field and distinguish between different equipment categories based on their operating principles and physical characteristics.

Collect and verify equipment TAG numbers, nameplate data, manufacturer information, model/type, equipment characteristics and other relevant technical data.

Read and interpret equipment nameplates, TAG labels, equipment markings, drawings and basic technical documentation.

Identify and assess static equipment such as pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers and associated components, with particular attention to their construction and main technical characteristics.

Identify different types of valves and understand their basic operating principles, applications and configurations.

Identify wellhead and associated equipment and understand their main components and functions.

Work effectively in challenging field environments and comply with all applicable HSE requirements and site procedures.

Where required, support the preparation and validation of equipment master data for CMMS/SAP systems.

Demonstrate a proactive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Professional Qualifications

2–4 years of relevant field experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy or other process industries.

Good practical knowledge of rotating machinery, including centrifugal and positive-displacement pumps, compressors, gearboxes, diesel engines and associated auxiliary systems.

Ability to readily recognize different types of rotating equipment in the field based on their physical configuration and operating principle.

Good knowledge of static equipment, including pressure vessels, storage tanks and heat exchangers, with familiarity with relevant terminology and construction features.

Familiarity with TEMA terminology and basic heat exchanger construction and classification.

Good knowledge of the basic principles and terminology associated with pressure vessels and storage tanks, including relevant ASME and API standards.

Good knowledge of valves, including their main types, construction, applications and operating principles.

Good knowledge of wellhead equipment, including the identification and basic function of major components.

Desirable: Previous experience with SAP S/4HANA Plant Maintenance (PM), particularly in relation to equipment and functional location master data.

Desirable: Familiarity with the SAP Fiori user interface and with SAP Asset Intelligence Network (SAP AIN) for accessing, managing and exchanging asset-related information and documentation.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with personnel at different organizational and technical levels.

Ability to work in harsh and challenging field environments, including demanding weather conditions and remote or industrial site conditions.

Proactive, hands-on attitude, strong willingness to learn and ability to adapt to new environments and technical requirements.

Training and Courses

  • Basic HSE / Site Safety Training.
  • Familiarity with Oil & Gas equipment identification and field survey practices.
  • Training in mechanical equipment, rotating machinery and static equipment is desirable.
  • Training or practical experience in SAP S/4HANA PM, SAP Fiori and/or SAP Asset Intelligence Network is desirable.
  • Any additional training related to API, ASME or TEMA standards is considered an advantage.
