About The Role

This position will report to BBEC, LLC, a subsidiary of HB Global.

We are looking for an experienced HR Director to join our leadership team and help shape the employee experience at BBEC. This position will serve as the company’s senior Human Resources leader and a trusted partner to the President and leadership team.

The HR Director will provide both strategic leadership and hands-on HR support for our field and office workforce. This individual will play a key role in strengthening our culture, developing our people, supporting leaders, and ensuring our HR practices align with BBEC’s business goals and employee-owner culture.

What You'll Do

Lead Human Resources

  • Serve as the senior HR leader and a member of the BBEC leadership team.
  • Partner closely with the President and leadership team on workforce strategy, organizational effectiveness, and employee matters.
  • Provide practical, thoughtful HR guidance that supports both employees and business objectives.
  • Help develop and maintain a high-performing workforce aligned with BBEC’s goals and values.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen leadership capabilities, employee engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness.

Support Our People & Leaders

  • Lead employee relations efforts, including investigations, conflict resolution, performance concerns, and employee separations.
  • Coach and advise managers and supervisors on effective leadership, employee engagement, performance management, and workforce practices.
  • Provide guidance regarding disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, and other employee-related matters.
  • Promote a positive, respectful, accountable, and team-focused work environment.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and leaders throughout the organization.

Recruit & Develop Great People

  • Partner with leadership to identify hiring needs and develop workforce planning strategies.
  • Support recruitment efforts for both field and administrative positions.
  • Help attract and retain skilled electrical craft professionals in a competitive labor market.
  • Ensure new employees have a positive and effective onboarding experience.
  • Promote BBEC’s employee ownership model as a key differentiator when recruiting talent.
  • Manage BBEC’s co-op program.
  • Support apprenticeship, training, and professional development initiatives.
  • Help identify opportunities for employee growth, career development, and succession planning.

Performance & Talent Management

  • Lead BBEC’s performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and development planning.
  • Partner with managers to establish clear expectations and provide meaningful feedback.
  • Support leadership development and succession planning.
  • Identify training and development opportunities that support both employee growth and business needs.
  • Help create opportunities for employees to build skills and grow their careers with BBEC.

HR Operations & Administration

  • Oversee day-to-day HR activities and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Ensure employee information and HR records are accurate and maintained appropriately.
  • Coordinate with shared HR service resources on payroll, benefits, HR systems, and other employee-related programs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HR-related questions and issues at BBEC.
  • Help develop, implement, and communicate HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Support employees with questions regarding benefits, employee programs, policies, and the employee ownership experience.

Compliance & Best Practices

  • Ensure HR practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Partner with leadership to identify and address employment-related risks.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations that promote fair, consistent, and compliant employment practices.

Support Our Field Workforce

  • Partner with operations leaders to understand workforce needs across projects and job sites.
  • Support staffing and workforce planning during periods of project growth, ramp-up, or reduction.
  • Help address workforce needs unique to the construction and electrical contracting environment.
  • Support recruitment and retention strategies for skilled trades and field employees.
  • Reinforce BBEC’s commitment to a safe, respectful, and productive work environment.
  • Partner with leadership to support a strong safety culture and safety-first mindset.

Champion Our Employee-Owner Culture

  • Help bring BBEC’s employee ownership philosophy to life through everyday HR practices and employee engagement.
  • Educate employees and support leadership in communicating the value of the ESOP and employee ownership.
  • Encourage accountability, collaboration, engagement, and long-term thinking.
  • Help employees understand how their individual contributions impact the success of the company.
  • Partner with leadership to strengthen employee engagement, recognition, and retention.

Communications & Engagement

  • Curate and distribute the company newsletter.
  • Manage BBEC’s social media accounts and support company communications.
  • Help promote BBEC’s culture, people, projects, and employee ownership story.
  • Develop communication strategies that keep employees informed, connected, and engaged.

What We're Looking For

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.

Experience

  • 7–10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Experience supporting a field-based workforce, preferably within construction, electrical contracting, manufacturing, skilled trades, or a similar industry.
  • Previous experience serving as the lead HR resource for a company, division, or business unit.
  • Experience partnering directly with operational and executive leadership.
  • Strong employee relations and performance management experience.
  • Experience supporting both field and office-based employees.

Preferred Certifications

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
  • PHR or SPHR
