Role Purpose

Serve as the primary techno-functional bridge between AML Operations, IT, QA, and external solution vendors. This role is responsible for driving end-to-end AML system architecture, transaction monitoring platform optimization, watchlist screening feeds, regulatory rule deployment, quality assurance, and leading the transition towards next generation AML monitoring powered by IT automation, AI/ML models and intelligent workflow tools.

Role Accountability

Business Analysis & Techno-Functional Translation

  • Translate complex AML/CFT regulatory mandates, FIU guidelines, and business requirements into detailed functional specifications (BRDs/FRDs) and platform configurations.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and operations teams to evaluate workflow bottlenecks and design scalable technical solutions.

AML Solution Architecture & Vendor Governance

  • Partner with AML solution providers and IT teams to manage core AML platforms, rule engines, and User Access Management (UAM) protocols.
  • Conduct periodic model tuning, system validation, and threshold optimization exercises to maximize detection efficacy while minimizing false positives.
  • Lead IT automation initiatives to reduce manual tasks, speed up turnaround time, and explore AI/ML solutions for transaction monitoring.

Regulatory Rule Implementation & Watchlist Management

  • Spearhead the deployment and testing of Red Flag Indicators (RFIs), transaction monitoring scenarios, and sanction screening logic.
  • Ensure daily maintenance, delta ingestion, and automated checks for third-party watchlist/PEP feeds (e.g., Dow Jones, World-Check).
  • Implement audit and inspection recommendations pertaining to IT controls, model validation, and system logic.

Quality Assurance (QA), UAT & Release Management

  • Lead the AML QA and UAT processes for new system releases, hotfixes, data integrations (e.g., BBPS, payment aggregators etc.), and patch updates.
  • Ensure zero-defect implementation and adherence to change management governance.

System Resilience, DR/BCP & Operational Support

  • Drive adherence to DR/BCP protocols for all AML platforms by actively planning, executing, and documenting periodic DR drills.
  • Serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) for resolving critical AML application incidents and production issues within defined SLAs.

Innovation & Emerging Risk Technology

  • Scan industry benchmarks and technological advancements to identify automation, AI/ML, and workflow enhancement opportunities for Financial Crime Compliance vertical.

Measures of Success

  • Budget and timeline adherence in project implementation
  • Timely remediation of all AML application issues
  • Process Efficiency (Transaction Monitoring/Watchlist Processing)
  • Timely and successful closure of DR activities
  • Timely implementation of Regulatory requirements with respect to AML solutions
  • Process adherence as per MOU

Technical Skills / Experience / Certifications

  • Specialized experience in AML systems implementation, Financial Crime Compliance platforms, transaction monitoring system governance with hands-on experience in leading IT automation projects, AML tool implementation, or AI/ML-driven compliance solutions
  • Strong understanding of credit card architectures, core banking systems, batch processing, API integrations, and database querying (SQL).
  • Knowledge of PMLA, RBI AML/KYC master directions, and FIU reporting frameworks.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s / master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or any relevant discipline.
  • Preferred Certifications: PMP / Prince2, CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist), or Agile/Scrum Master.
