Role Summary
Hands-on technical leader for enterprise applications across .NET, Python, and React. Owns architecture, incremental modernization of legacy systems, API and database engineering, and production reliability — while mentoring engineers and continuing to write code.
This is an onsite based position in Santa Clara, CA
Key Responsibilities
Solution design & modernization
- Own architecture, design, and technical direction for a portfolio of DIA applications.
- Translate business requirements into solution architecture, API contracts, data models, implementation plans, and testable acceptance criteria.
- Lead incremental, risk-managed modernization of legacy .NET, Web Forms, Angular, and scheduled-job applications — retaining and modernizing .NET where it fits, moving to Python/FastAPI where it advances platform convergence.
- Maintain backward compatibility and business continuity for consuming applications throughout.
Hands-on delivery
- Build and review backend services in C#/ASP.NET/.NET Core and Python/FastAPI.
- Build and review React/TypeScript front ends.
- Design secure, versioned, documented REST APIs and enterprise integrations.
- Optimize performance via query tuning, indexing, caching, pagination, batching, and async processing.
Production engineering
- Establish exception handling, structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, dashboards, alerts, and health checks.
- Lead root-cause analysis on critical incidents through documented closure and preventive action.
- Diagnose issues across code, database, integration, infrastructure, and platform layers.
Standards & governance
- Define and enforce engineering standards for architecture, coding, testing, security, observability, and production readiness.
- Lead design, architecture, code, and release-readiness reviews.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, access-control, and change-management requirements.
Leadership & collaboration
- Lead multiple concurrent initiatives, balancing modernization, feature delivery, technical debt, and production support.
- Partner with product owners, architects, QE, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and support teams; coordinate globally distributed Agile teams.
- Mentor engineers; contribute reusable patterns, reference implementations, and accelerators.
- Communicate decisions, dependencies, risks, and status clearly to engineering and senior leadership.
- Use approved AI-assisted engineering tools within required security and engineering controls.
Qualifications
Education — Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field. Equivalent experience considered per company policy. Cloud/technical certifications desirable.
Experience — 6+ years in enterprise application development, architecture, integration, or modernization, including
- Full lifecycle ownership from requirements through production support.
- Leading technical solutions spanning .NET, Python, React, REST APIs, SQL, and enterprise integrations.
- Leading medium-to-large initiatives with multiple technical and business stakeholders.
- Resolving complex production issues and driving preventive improvements.
- Mentoring engineers while contributing directly to delivery.
- Working with globally distributed Agile teams.

API & Security Versioning, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, JWT, RBAC, service-to-service auth, secrets management, validation, auditability; identifying breaking changes in routes, models, auth, and downstream integrations
Data Strong SQL on SQL Server and PostgreSQL; stored procedures, schema and index design, execution plans, connection management; diagnosing slow queries, blocking, locking, and timeouts; migration, archival, and retention practices
Cloud & DevSecOps Azure or AWS, containers, Kubernetes/OpenShift; Git-based workflows and PR reviews; CI/CD with automated build, test, deploy, rollback; dependency and vulnerability management
