Summary of Job Duties

The UA Little Rock Graduate School has an opening for a 9-month Graduate Assistant. This Graduate Assistant (GA) will work twenty (20) hours a week for the School of Public Affairs. GA assignments may include emphasis in research, administration, or public service. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
  • Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate degree program or good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing students;
  • Ability to work the required hours (FT-50% -20 hours per week/PT-25% - 10 hours per week) with regular attendance;
  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher;
  • Maintain enrollment in at least nine (9) credit hours.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Written and oral communication in English;
  • Work well with diverse populations;
  • Strong organization capabilities and attention to detail;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive;
  • Research experience assisting with data collection and project management;

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Notify the appropriate chair, graduate coordinator and/or supervisor when absent;
  • Coordinate long-term, multi-layered projects that require collaboration with others inside and outside of assigned office;
  • Organizational skills to organize different projects;
  • Be accessible to students or colleagues through email and scheduled appointments;
  • Prepare materials as needed as determined by chair, graduate coordinator, and/or supervisor;
  • Maintain records and meet deadlines as required by administration;
  • Respect confidentiality of all individuals; comply with IRB requirements;
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Primary and secondary research abilities;
  • Editing; proofreading;
  • Locating and editing digital information;
  • Revising documents based on feedback from stakeholders;
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
