About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Security Commissioning Technician to join our growing Systems team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled security professional who enjoys seeing projects come to life. You'll play a key role in delivering sophisticated Access Control, CCTV, and Intercom solutions across major construction projects, tenancy fit-outs, and large-scale customer sites.
From commissioning and integration through to troubleshooting and final handover, you'll be trusted to ensure systems perform flawlessly while working alongside experienced Project Managers, Engineers, and industry specialists. You'll also have opportunities to mentor junior technicians and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
What You'll Be Doing
- Commission, configure, test, and maintain Access Control, CCTV, Intercom, and integrated security systems.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, providing expert troubleshooting and support.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and customers to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support project planning, scheduling, and execution activities.
- Verify system functionality, performance, and compliance with customer and project requirements.
- Contribute technical expertise to engineering, service, and sales teams.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and customer outcomes.
- Mentor and support junior technicians and apprentices, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Participate in project handovers and support customers during the Defects Liability Period (DLP).
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with Johnson Controls' Safety, Health and Environment Management System (SHEMS).
What You'll Bring
- 2-6 years' experience working with electronic security systems.
- Trade qualification in Security Systems or a related field.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a NSW Security Provider Licence.
- Hands-on experience commissioning, configuring, and troubleshooting security technologies.
- Strong understanding of IT networks, server environments, and system integrations.
- Experience designing or implementing small to medium-sized security systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and project documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive, customer-focused approach and strong problem-solving capability.
- Flexibility to travel as required.
