The Opportunity

KBR is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our International Tax team. Reporting to the International Tax Director, you will lead Australian and broader APAC tax activities, including compliance, tax accounting, reporting, forecasting, and advisory support.

Partnering with business leaders across the organisation, you will provide practical tax guidance, support strategic initiatives, ensure compliance with tax regulations, and drive continuous improvement across tax processes and controls. This is an opportunity to lead the Australian tax function while contributing to APAC initiatives within a global organisation.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity and can be based in Brisbane (Preferred), Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra or Adelaide.

The successful candidate must hold a Baseline security clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Manage direct and indirect tax compliance across Australia and designated APAC jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate lodgements.
  • Lead Australian corporate income tax compliance, tax accounting, forecasting, and reporting activities.
  • Oversee GST, VAT, PAYG and other indirect tax reporting obligations across applicable jurisdictions.
  • Prepare and maintain transfer pricing documentation and support transfer pricing compliance requirements.
  • Provide practical tax advice on business activities, contracts, acquisitions, restructures, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with tax authorities, including audits, reviews, enquiries, and regulatory matters.
  • Support statutory tax disclosures and the management of uncertain tax positions.
  • Partner with finance, legal, HR, treasury, commercial and operational teams to assess tax implications and support business decision-making.
  • Maintain tax governance, SOX controls, and tax account reconciliations to ensure a strong control environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across tax processes, systems, and controls, while supporting regional tax projects and business initiatives.

As the ideal candidate you will bring

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related discipline
  • CA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Significant experience in corporate tax, with strong expertise in Australian corporate income tax compliance, reporting, and tax accounting.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian tax legislation, tax provisioning, and governance requirements.
  • Experience managing direct and indirect tax obligations, including income tax, GST, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: ability to interpret complex tax legislation and provide practical, commercially focused advice.
  • Stakeholder management and communication skills: ability to build trusted relationships across finance, legal, HR, commercial, and operational teams.
  • Organisational and project management capabilities: ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience gained within a Big Four accounting firm, large multinational organisation, or similarly complex corporate environment.
  • Exposure to tax compliance, reporting, or advisory activities across multiple APAC jurisdictions.
  • Experience with transfer pricing compliance and documentation requirements.
  • Experience managing tax audits, ATO reviews, regulatory enquiries, and other tax authority interactions.
  • Familiarity with tax reporting systems and tools, including OneSource Tax Provision or similar software.

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance.
