About The Role

👋 About Us

sunday is building the fastest, simplest way to pay in restaurants. With a quick scan of a QR code, diners can pay, tip, and leave in about 10 seconds. We believe great products should feel obvious, not complicated, and we focus relentlessly on keeping things simple while earning trust from restaurants and guests at every interaction. Today, sunday powers payments in thousands of restaurants across the US, UK, and France, helping operators turn tables faster, increase tips, and unlock valuable insights. We push ourselves to go beyond what’s expected, building with ownership, moving fast, and scaling with ambition as we tackle our biggest growth opportunity in the US.

About the Role

As Strategy and Operations Lead to the CTO , your mission will be to increase the CTO’s ability to think, communicate and execute effectively across the organization.

You will work directly with the CTO on the most important strategic, organizational and operational topics across Engineering, Product, Data, IT and Security.

Your role is to increase the CTO’s leverage across three dimensions: helping make better decisions, making those decisions clear across the organization, and ensuring they turn into execution.

You will be expected to understand the substance of the topics you work on, develop your own point of view, challenge when necessary and drive work independently.

Join early, grow fast, and shape the journey!

Key Responsibilities

  • 1.Executive Communication
  • Prepare clear and concise communications for the CTO, including executive updates, strategic memos, decision documents and presentations.
  • Translate complex technical, organizational and business topics into clear narratives.
  • Adapt messages for different audiences, from engineers to executives and investors.
  • Prepare the CTO for important discussions with the right context, facts and materials.
  • Keep key messages, decisions and priorities consistent and well documented.
  • 2.Operating Cadence and Follow-Through
  • Create the structure and discipline needed to keep the CTO’s priorities moving.
  • Maintain visibility on priorities, commitments, decisions, risks and dependencies.
  • Turn decisions into clear actions, owners and deadlines.
  • Track progress, follow up on commitments and surface blockers early.
  • Organize the leadership and review cadences needed to run the Technology organization effectively.

3.Strategic Programs and Cross-Functional Coordination

Lead high-priority initiatives that involve multiple teams or do not yet have a clear owner. These may include AI transformation, organizational changes, annual planning, cost efficiency or technology transformation.

  • Define the desired outcome, scope and execution plan.
  • Coordinate senior stakeholders, workstreams, milestones and dependencies.
  • Drive decisions, manage risks and remove blockers.
  • Maintain momentum until the initiative reaches a clear outcome or transitions to a permanent owner.
  • Drive progress through influence rather than formal authority.
  1. Organization, People & Business Operations

Support the organizational and operational clarity needed to run the Technology function effectively.

  • Support org design, headcount planning, leadership changes and critical hiring.
  • Coordinate organizational reviews and selected senior recruitment processes.
  • Consolidate and follow up on the Technology budget, in partnership with Finance.
  • Maintain visibility on Technology investments, resources, commitments and major dependencies.
  • Keep strategic plans, organizational decisions and key commitments documented and accessible.

The goal is to ensure that the CTO and Technology leadership team always have a clear and up-to-date view of the organization, its priorities, resources and key decisions.

  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and can produce executive-level material with limited guidance.
  • You are fully fluent in both English and French, verbally and in writing. This is a requirement for the role.
  • You have strong business and technology knowledge. You do not need to be an engineer, but you understand how software companies and technology organizations operate and can engage credibly with technical, product and organizational topics.

  • You have high agency. You do not wait for a detailed brief before starting to make progress.
  • You have exceptional follow-through and naturally pay attention to what happens after a decision is made.
  • You are comfortable working directly with senior executives and challenging constructively when something does not make sense.
  • You can move quickly between strategy and execution, and between very different subjects, without losing structure or priorities.
