About The Role

JOB SUMMARY

The Finance Technology Product & Portfolio Lead is responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously evolving the centralized Finance Technology Demand and Portfolio Management function. This role serves as the primary bridge between Finance stakeholders and Technology teams, ensuring business initiatives are appropriately evaluated, prioritized, funded, governed, and delivered.

The incumbent will own the end-to-end demand lifecycle from intake through value realization, enabling a transparent, data-driven approach to investment decisions, resource allocation, portfolio governance, and strategic execution. This role will also drive product strategy and roadmap development for assigned Finance technology capabilities while ensuring alignment to Finance transformation objectives, operational priorities, regulatory requirements, and enterprise strategy.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and manage the overall Finance technology product roadmap and portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives and priorities.
  • Lead the demand management process for Finance technology, including intake, prioritization, and resource allocation for new initiatives and enhancements.
  • Act as a primary liaison between Finance business stakeholders and technology teams, translating business needs into technical requirements and vice versa.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, project progress, and budget adherence, implementing corrective actions as needed to ensure successful delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement in Finance technology processes, tools, and practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 7+ years of experience in technology product management, portfolio management, or equivalent strategic technology leadership roles within a large organization.
  • 7+ years of experience working directly with Finance business units on technology solutions, demonstrating a strong understanding of financial processes and systems.
  • 7+ years of Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams and initiatives, often without direct authority, to deliver complex technology projects.
  • 5+ years of experience with demand management processes, including intake, prioritization, and resource allocation for technology initiatives.

Preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in the healthcare industry, particularly with an understanding of Highmark's business model.
  • Experience supporting Finance transformation programs.
  • Experience with Portfolio Management frameworks and governance models.
  • Experience supporting M&A integration initiatives.
  • Experience implementing demand, portfolio, workflow, or project management solutions.

  • Portfolio Management Expertise: Proven ability to manage a portfolio of technology initiatives, including prioritization, resource allocation, risk management, and performance monitoring.
  • Product Management Acumen: Strong understanding of the product lifecycle, from ideation and requirements gathering to development, deployment, and ongoing optimization.
  • Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of financial principles, processes (e.g., budgeting, forecasting, accounting), and the technology that supports them.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication : Exceptional ability to engage, influence, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership, finance business partners, and technology teams.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Proficient in analyzing complex business problems, identifying technology solutions, and making data-driven decisions.
  • Leadership & Influence: Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, driving consensus and accountability without direct reporting authority.
  • Change Management: Experience in guiding organizations through technological and process changes, fostering adoption and minimizing disruption.
  • Technical Proficiency : Familiarity with enterprise-level financial systems (e.g., ERP, planning & budgeting tools) and modern technology platforms.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance, or related field or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance, or related field

LICENSES or CERTIFICATIONS

Required

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) Certification

Preferred

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)

Pay Range Minimum

$102,700.00

Pay Range Maximum

$164,600.00

Base pay is determined by a variety of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal peer equity, market, and business considerations. The displayed salary range does not reflect any geographic differential Highmark may apply for certain locations based upon comparative markets.
