The successful candidate
The Medical Staff Coordinator provides administrative support for Medical Staff Services and to the medical staff organization. This position completes full cycle credentialing, including initial appointment, reappointment and privileging, for all providers. This includes ongoing surveillance to ensure all requirement that align to approved privileges are maintained. The position is also responsible for ensuring all medical staff meetings are coordinated and supportive documentation is maintained.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
Medical Staff Credentialing-40%
- Assures the completeness and accuracy of the credentialing process. Coordinates the initial credentialing and privileging delineation activities and re-credentialing/re-privileging of the medical/allied health staff in accordance with the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, Credentials Manual, and Policies of the Medical Staff and the appropriate medical staff departmental rules and regulations to assure that only qualified practitioners are appointed to provide care in the Hospital. Processes requests for and monitors duration of temporary privileges in accordance with the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff. Obtains appropriate approvals and distributes notices of temporary privileges granted.
- Initiate, log, and track the provider application and recredentialing processes.
- Monitor receipt, as well as follow up until all documents are received and complete.
- Interface with providers and outside sources, such as the National Practitioner Data Bank and licensing boards, to ensure appropriate information is maintained and updated.
- Create systems to monitor and track status of applications and maintenance of recredentialing files, monitor primary source verification documents.
- Assists with setting up new physicians and advanced care practitioners. This will include entering their information into the ECHO software system, communicating to the managers, directors, and physicians when their privileges are approved, coordinating their Lawson numbers, and communicating with Corporate for credentialing with payors.
Medical Staff Coordination- 60%
- Coordinates initial preboarding and general onboarding of new medical and allied health staff.
- Ensure that medical staff On-Call calendars are updated and maintained on an ongoing basis. May assume responsibility for development of on-call scheduled from time to time.
- Process expense reimbursement, check requests and other expense methods for various medical staff expenses associate with medical/allied health or departmental needs.
- Maintain medical/allied health time off calendars and ensure time off banks are administered per physician contracts.
- Maintains medical staff tracking logs, etc. (contract tracker, etc.) to ensure adequate access to medical staff related data.
- Ensures all medical staff meetings are coordinated and supportive documentation is maintained.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: M inimum of 1 year of experience in medical staff services, human resources or similar function.
Education: High School degree or equivalent or equivalent work experience.
