About The Role
- The X-Ray Technologist performs radiologic exams, following established procedures for patient care and safety.
- Performs all the duties related to proper film identification, storage, and reporting functions.
- Perform registration duties.
- This position will require shifts at both Euclid and Mentor on the Lake clinics and both RT and Medical Assistant duties
Responsibilities
- Operate X-Ray equipment to take radiographic films of designated portions of the body as directed by the APP or Physician.
- Ensures radiology equipment is functioning appropriately and reports equipment malfunctions to manager
- Logs radiologic procedures
- Responsible for taking patient history and obtain vital signs
- Perform basic testing or screenings such as: vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function testing.
- Perform necessary phlebotomy for collection of laboratory samples.
- Accurately complete corresponding paperwork/computer work for lab tests ordered on blood, urine, tissue, and culture samples.
- Able to perform subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections and accurately complete paperwork according to policy for that procedure.
- Perform point of care testing such as: strep, mono, glucose, influenza, Urine pregnancy, Urinalysis, blood glucose levels.
- Dispense and document medications and other treatment modalities.
- Insure sterile technique, instrument cleaning and sterilization, proper use of the autoclave.
- Schedule and coordinate necessary records for ancillary care for patients.
- Assist providers with exams and testing (pelvic exams, eye irrigations and ear irrigations, I & D’s and splinting/ ortho-glass preparation
- Perform occupational medicine testing such as: urine drug screens, breath alcohol testing, audiogram, and DOT physicals
- Maintain confidentiality with all patient information (HIPAA).
- Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to manager.
- Logs laboratory procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
- Responsible for patient call backs, scheduling physician referrals; specialist’s referrals and pharmacy issues; and patient’s education.
- Maintains examination rooms, sterilization of equipment and stocks necessary medical supplies.
- Performs duties to ensure good patient flow.
- Registration duties: explain to patients' accepted insurances and those out of network and knowledgeable of all pricing. Properly collect and record payments, complete registration screen in a timely manner.
- Travel to care centers within designated region
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal information
- Cleans and stocks the site with other members of the team
- Training other team members.
- Additional job responsibilities may be assigned.
- Radiology Technician (RT) or General X-Ray Machine Operator (GXMO) certification required.
- 1-2 years previous experience working in a physician practice or clinic setting is preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Ability to function independently without close supervision, and to consistently exercise discretion and the highest level of good clinical and other professional judgment.
