Tax Operations Director

About The Role
We are expanding our team with the addition of a Tax Operations Director . This role is responsible for the management of the section's tax professionals, with additional responsibilities to include US compliance, consolidated income tax reporting, and assisting with tax audits and initiatives to maximize tax savings opportunities that contribute to shareholder value while fulfilling tax payment and reporting obligations.
This role will report to the Vice President of Tax Operations. You will work out of the Charlotte, NC location on a hybrid world schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax Return Compliance – Accurate reporting of all aspects of US Federal, International and State income tax returns including federal consolidated groups, international tax reporting and unitary/combined state groups. Review alternative tax positions to resolve most appropriate cost-effective filing position. Drive technology and improvements in execution to enhance compliance process. Support Honeywell’s M&A integration and reporting disclosure processes for both domestic and foreign transactions.
- Financial Reporting – Support the accurate preparation of Honeywell’s income tax provision prepared under ASC 740 for financial statement purposes, including both domestic and foreign entities. Evaluate uncertain tax reporting positions and business combinations to accurately reflect the tax treatment of such items in Honeywell’s financial statements. Contribute to Honeywell’s Sarbanes-Oxley process for financial reporting purposes. Analyze the tax aspects of financial projections and forecasts, including assistance with various M&A transactions. Through technology and operational improvements, ensure accurate, timely information provided to Honeywell’s financial reporting group.
- Leadership and Teamwork – Lead, mentor, and develop US Tax Operations team. Coordinate and consult with SBG Tax Directors and cross-functionally. Direct external tax advisors on a project-by-project basis.
You must have
- 10+ years Big 10 Tax and/or Corporate Tax experience, with time spent on large US multi-national corporations
- Master’s degree with an emphasis in taxation or CPA with public accounting experience
- Broad technical knowledge of US Federal and State tax laws & regulations, including US international provisions like Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, FTC and BEAT
- Solid GAAP Financial Accounting and ASC740 expertise
