About the Role

As the Compliance Operations Manager, You will sit between the regulatory framework and the people executing it. That means translating what the regulation requires into workflows our teams can actually run — and then watching closely enough to know whether they are running well. You will work with Compliance, Product and Engineering, and report to the Head of Compliance. It is a role for someone who is not content to administer a control environment. We want the person who notices that a process is slow, manual, or quietly inconsistent — and fixes it.

You Will

  • Build, lead and develop the Compliance Operations team across KYC, Transaction Surveillance and Fraud Risk Management, setting team structure, workload distribution and career progression paths.
  • Own end to end hiring for the function: define role requirements, build sourcing pipelines and run a hiring process that scales with team growth rather than reactive backfilling.
  • Run quality assurance sampling across case decisions — and act on what it tells you about inconsistent outcomes, thin rationale, and SOPs that have drifted from practice.
  • Coach team leads and senior analysts on case decision quality, investigative rigour and escalation judgment. Build a bench of leaders within the team, not just individual contributors.
  • Set individual and team performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and manage underperformance directly and fairly.
  • Define and own the KPI framework for the function, covering case turnaround times, alert to resolution SLAs, QA pass rates, STR/SAR filing timeliness and backlog ageing. Review these regularly with the team, not only at leadership reporting time.
  • Monitor alert backlogs, ageing and SLA performance, and escalate capacity, resourcing or threshold problems before they become audit findings.
  • Produce compliance operations MI that leadership can actually make decisions from: volumes, SLAs, QA outcomes, thematic issues and emerging risk, trended over time rather than as point in time snapshots.
  • Bring industry best practices in compliance operations, drawn from peer institutions, industry bodies and regulatory guidance, to continuously raise the bar rather than defaulting to how things have always been done.
  • Drive process improvement across customer due diligence and monitoring: threshold tuning, workflow redesign, automation of manual hand offs, and structured use of AI tooling where it genuinely holds up under scrutiny.

You Are

  • Compliance & Risk enthusiast – you have racked up at least 10 years of relevant Regulatory Operational work experience in a managerial capacity, ideally within the financial services or payment industry. Relevant knowledge on payments related regulations in Malaysia will be a plus.
  • Analytical & detail-oriented thinker – you possess excellent problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience in solving complex business with analytical thinking. You have the natural tendency to always focus on details and hate to miss out on specifics.
  • Travel enthusiast – you are a passionate traveler and understand the psychology of traveler, in particular when it comes to overseas spending behavior and its associated risks.
  • Fearless self-starter – you are not afraid to suggest and implement new initiatives to tackle complex business issues, as long as the rationale is logical and sound. You do not mind getting your hands dirty in order to get things done on a tight timeline.
  • Passion to lead - True leadership is not about being born into a role, but about embracing the responsibility to lead by example. With unwavering dedication and a clear vision, you will inspire and guide your team to reach new heights, demonstrating that the passion to lead is cultivated through action, not title.
