About The Role

Job Purpose

The Compliance Officer will play a key role in Malaysia, providing day-to-day compliance support across both the Fuel and Telematics businesses, and acting as the primary local point of contact with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

The role will develop and maintain the compliance frameworks for the Fuel and Telematics businesses in line with evolving regulatory requirements, and will take ongoing ownership of administering those frameworks as part of business-as-usual.

A key focus of the role will be holding policy responsibility across both businesses, maintaining compliance registers, producing oversight reporting for local and UK senior management, and conducting local horizon scanning to keep Radius ahead of regulatory developments in Malaysia.

This role offers the opportunity to shape how compliance operates for Radius's Malaysian businesses, working closely with the UK-based Fuel, Telematics, Credit and Compliance teams. Business-level English and confidence collaborating across time zones and cultures is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Framework

  • Develop, implement and maintain the compliance framework for the Telematics business, ensuring policies, controls and processes are proportionate to the scale and complexity of the business and aligned with Malaysia's Consumer Credit Act and Suruhanjaya Kredit Pengguna (SKP) Conduct Standards.
  • Take ongoing ownership of administering the framework as business-as-usual, including maintaining policies and evidencing compliance.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the compliance function as the Malaysian business continues to grow.

 

Regulatory Relationships & Horizon Monitoring

  • Act as the primary local point of contact for BNM, managing information requests, notifications, and day-to-day correspondence.
  • Coordinate submissions and declarations required by BNM.
  • Conduct local horizon scanning of regulatory developments across BNM, SKP, and other relevant Malaysian bodies, translating these into practical impact assessments for the business.

Compliance Planning & Assurance

  • Support the development and delivery of a risk-based compliance plan for the Malaysian businesses, aligned to key regulatory priorities.
  • Support monitoring and assurance activity to provide confidence that compliance controls are operating effectively across Fuel and Telematics.

Advisory Support

  • Provide clear, practical compliance advice to Malaysian business teams and to UK central functions on Malaysia-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Support the review of customer communications and other materials where regulatory oversight is required.
  • Design and deliver relevant compliance training to customer-facing and collections staff, and maintain training records.

Governance & Reporting

  • Hold policy responsibility for the Malaysian entities, ensuring policies are version-controlled and formally approved.
  • Maintain compliance registers, including conflicts of interest, outsourcing, complaints, breaches, training, and regulator correspondence.
  • Produce regular oversight reporting for local and international senior management, providing clear insight into regulatory risk, compliance activity, and key developments within Malaysia.

Financial Crime

  • Support the discharge of Radius Malaysia's obligations under BNM's Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Countering Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Countering Proliferation (CPF) and Targeted Financial Sanctions requirements, including proper maintenance of records and escalation of suspicious activity.
  • Contribute to customer due diligence and transaction monitoring processes where relevant.

What You Will Bring

  • Business-level spoken and written English, with confidence communicating and collaborating with UK-based central teams.
  • Experience developing, implementing and administering compliance frameworks and writing compliance policies within a regulated environment.
  • Direct experience engaging with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) - essential .
  • Financial crime / AML experience - desirable .
  • Experience in a credit-related business (e.g. consumer credit, lending, BNPL, leasing or factoring) - desirable .
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to produce clear, senior-management-ready oversight reporting.
  • Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a standalone in-country role.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience within a BNM-regulated entity (bank, non-bank credit provider, payments business, or credit service business).
  • Understanding of Malaysia's Consumer Credit Act and/or SKP Conduct Standards is advantageous.
  • Relevant compliance qualification desirable.
  • Understanding of Risk Management and Control principles desirable.
  • Understanding of Project Management principles is advantageous.
  • Degree or equivalent experience in law, finance, risk, or a related field.
