The Brainbox core value of 'Always Be Kind' is embedded in every policy, decision, and every day. We develop our people, and the Philippines management team is all Filipinos. Everything we do aims to provide people with a work culture that helps them improve every single day. From unlimited training to HMO benefits from day 1, we want our people to love what they do and become the best versions of themselves.
We are looking for an Estimator and Scheduler who will take ownership of quantity takeoffs, estimate build ups and construction programme maintenance for a residential construction client. Our client is a custom home builder based in Perth, Western Australia, building one-off homes rather than volume product. You will work directly with the client's estimating lead, price jobs end to end, deal with Australian suppliers and subcontractors directly, and keep the construction programme that site supervisors run to. As the first person in this seat, you will also help document the client's rates, templates and processes as you learn them.
Key Duties
- Complete quantity takeoffs from architectural, structural and engineering drawings.
- Build estimates using the client's estimating software, rate library and templates.
- Prepare and issue pricing requests to suppliers and subcontractors, then follow up outstanding prices and normalise responses into a consistent comparison format.
- Price variations and prepare supporting breakdowns for review.
- Build and maintain construction programmes to the client's standard sequence.
- Update call-forward dates and keep trade sequencing current as jobs move.
- Track long-lead items and alert the supervisor before they become critical.
- Raise purchase orders against approved estimates.
- Prepare prestart and selection documentation.
- Keep estimate files, correspondence and revision history organised and current.
Essential Requirements
- 2 to 4 years' experience in estimating, scheduling or construction administration in an Australian-based company.
- Proven experience on Australian residential projects (able to speak to specific builders and project types in interview).
- Able to read and interpret Australian residential drawings and specifications without supervision.
- Working knowledge of Australian residential construction sequence and trade terminology.
- Competent in digital takeoff using Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift or equivalent.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Written English clear enough for direct, unedited contact with Australian suppliers and subcontractors.
- Excellent attention to detail and comfortable working to another business's established method and templates.
- Persistent and proactive in following up outstanding supplier prices, and comfortable raising queries rather than assuming.
Perks
- Attractive and competitive salary
- Tenure-based and performance-based incentives
- Paid time off
- Unlimited cash incentives for hired referrals
- Engagement and recognition programs
- HMO on day 1
- Work-life balance with a 37.5-hour week and free weekends
- International career growth and clients
- Opportunities to travel abroad
- Modern air-conditioned offices, located along MacArthur Highway (easy public transportation access), near residences, malls, and restaurants
- Fun and inclusive working environment and great working culture
- Dedicated local support with local management, HR, onboarding, payroll, and ICT
- Access to unlimited training and micro-competencies to advance your skills
- This role is subject to a number of skills and possible online practical tests.
- This position is an onsite role. Candidate must be willing to work on-site.
