**Workplace:** on_site

## Description

G MASS Consulting is partnered with a leading hedge fund seeking a Compliance Business Analyst to join its global Compliance function in Hong Kong.

This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who combines intellectual curiosity, process knowledge and genuine data fluency. It combines BAU Control Room responsibilities - including restriction-list management, position-limit monitoring and sanctions - with ownership of process, data and technology improvements designed to strengthen controls, data quality and automation.

The successful candidate will have a natural gatekeeper mindset: someone who is curious about how processes and controls operate, understands where each data point originates, and is prepared to challenge its accuracy and integrity. They will take front-to-back ownership of processes and issues, from identifying the underlying requirement or data source through to implementing and embedding the solution.

### Responsibilities

  • Maintain and administer restriction lists, including watch and restricted lists, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely updates.
  • Perform position-limit monitoring across asset classes, investigating and escalating breaches, exceptions and data anomalies.
  • Support the firm’s information-barrier and MNPI controls, including wall-crossing procedures and need-to-know governance.
  • Support sanctions screening and disclosure-of-interest obligations, including large and short position reporting and Takeover Panel disclosures.
  • Act as a day-to-day point of contact for the business on restriction, limit and conflicts queries, providing clear and timely responses.
  • Build and maintain SQL-based reports, checks and tools supporting restriction-list, position-limit and disclosure monitoring, reducing manual processing and improving data quality.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of data lineage, including where critical data points originate, how they move through systems and how they are used within downstream controls and reporting.
  • Investigate data-quality issues at source, challenging inconsistencies and ensuring that controls are supported by complete, accurate and reliable information.
  • Document, review and refine Control Room procedures, controls and workflows.
  • Gather and document requirements, working closely with technology teams to improve the data feeds, logic and tooling underpinning restriction and limit monitoring.
  • Take front-to-back ownership of process and data improvements, from identifying the issue and defining requirements through to implementation, testing and embedding.
  • Explore opportunities to improve controls and workflows through automation and AI-enabled tooling, while maintaining appropriate oversight and data governance.
  • Assist with periodic reviews, regulatory requests and audit queries.
  • Contribute to the continuing enhancement of the Control Room framework and its underlying data architecture.

## Requirements

  • Strong experience within a hedge fund, investment bank, asset manager or similarly regulated environment.
  • Background in compliance, Control Room, business analysis, data or a related operations function. Control Room experience is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Strong ownership mentality; this is a lean team with minimal supervision, so you'll need to spot what needs doing and see it through.
  • Experience owning issues front-to-back across teams, systems and data flows, not just one stage of a process.
  • Solid business-analysis skills: requirements gathering, process documentation, data analysis and working closely with technology teams.
  • Hands-on SQL and comfort with large, complex datasets; Python is a plus.
  • Awareness of how data quality, lineage and governance impact automation and AI-enabled processes.
  • Not a developer role, but you should be comfortable interrogating data and bridging Compliance and Technology.
  • Working knowledge of MNPI, information barriers and conflicts management, or the ability to pick this up quickly.
  • Track record balancing BAU control work with change, transformation or automation initiatives.
