Care Assistant

Reports to: Health Care Manager

Location: Beechtree

About the Role

  • We are looking for compassionate, caring and dedicated Care Assistants to join our nursing team and support our residents in receiving a high standard of person-centred care.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with nursing staff to support residents with their daily needs while promoting their dignity, privacy, independence and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

Assist residents with activities of daily living, including

Mobility

  • Toileting and continence
  • Personal hygiene and grooming
  • Nutrition and hydration
  • Pressure area care
  • Social and recreational activities
  • Support nursing staff in delivering high-quality, resident-focused care.
  • Maintain residents' privacy, dignity and independence at all times.
  • Develop respectful and positive relationships with residents.
  • Report any concerns regarding residents to the nurse in charge.
  • Report hazards, faulty equipment or maintenance issues appropriately.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
  • Follow Infection Prevention and Control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to resident care.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Read and follow Beechtree policies and procedures.
  • Participate in training, education and in-service development.
  • Keep up to date with current care practices.
  • Work effectively with nursing, catering, administrative, maintenance and pastoral care teams.

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have

  • Some experience working in the care of older people.
  • A kind, caring and compassionate nature.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong commitment to providing person-centered care.
  • FETAC Level 5 / QQI Level 5 or equivalent
