Te tūranga – The role

The Manager Cash Production and Circulation is a critical role within the Money and Cash directorate. You are responsible for managing the banknote and coin production arrangements, managing the quality and authenticity of cash in Aotearoa, and monitoring the performance of the cash system against the needs of New Zealanders.

You will contribute your expertise to Money and Cash and bank-wide strategic priorities.

This is a rare opportunity to lead change in an established function, as well as to lead the emergence of new areas of focus. Coming from a strong technical background you will bring significant experience and new ways of thinking that lead an uplift in our frameworks, research, analysis, and practices.

You will possess a high level of technical expertise and your experience has seen you develop, implement and maintain frameworks, methodologies and technical specifications. You can articulate your thinking and approach to a wide range of stakeholders in a way that is concise, but reflective of your specialised skills and knowledge.

You will need to have

  • Demonstrated senior experience in central banking, quality assurance, production or similarly process and analytically-intensive environments with strong governance and risk controls
  • A strong understanding of money, cash distribution systems, and related operations
  • Proven ability to influence and build credibility across internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience delivering change, including through others
  • Experience leading, upskilling, and fostering a culture of excellence in a team
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills

You might have a background in banknotes and coins, manufacturing, supply chain, product management, or even something outside these areas.

The anticipated appointment range for this role is $179,575 to $209,504 (actual salary will be dependent on your skills and experience).
