About The Role

  • Monday - Friday 3pm-11pm
  • Pay: 18/hr. -20/hr.

Position Summary

The Tool & Die Bench Polisher is responsible for polishing, finishing, repairing, and maintaining tooling, dies, molds, and precision components used in manufacturing operations. This position ensures tooling surfaces meet dimensional, cosmetic, and functional requirements to support efficient production and product quality. The Bench Polisher works closely with Tool & Die Makers, Machinists, and Production personnel to maintain tooling readiness and extend tool life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Polish, buff, lap, and finish tool steel, dies, molds, punches, and other precision tooling components to required specifications.
  • Remove surface imperfections, scratches, oxidation, burrs, and machining marks using hand tools and polishing equipment.
  • Inspect tooling surfaces for defects, wear, damage, and dimensional compliance.
  • Perform touch-up repairs and restoration of tooling surfaces as directed.
  • Utilize polishing stones, abrasive papers, diamond compounds, grinders, and other finishing tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, tooling specifications, and work instructions.
  • Maintain proper surface finishes and tolerances required for manufacturing operations.
  • Assist Tool & Die Makers with tool maintenance, assembly, and disassembly activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling repairs, maintenance, and completed work.
  • Follow preventive maintenance schedules for polishing and finishing equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling performance and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Ability to use hand and power polishing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and recordkeeping.
