Inventory Control Supervisor
Purpose
Under general direction, supervises the operations, activities and personnel engaged in materials and inventory management.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Monitors and ensures section operates efficiently within appropriated budget. schedules expenditures; analyzes variances, initiates corrective actions and assists with procurement activities.
- Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.
- Controls inventory levels by reviewing data recorded in tracking system, retrieving data, designing reports and directing corrective actions to manage the inventory levels.
- Reconciles physical inventory to inventory control records and addresses and resolves variances.
- Provides support to departmental staff by researching and resolving discrepancies, recommending actions to manage inventory levels, and disbursement of inventory.
- Ensures warehouse safety and security by maintaining compliance with guidelines, reporting discrepancies, and recommending corrective action.

- Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling and recommendation for dismissal.

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus four (4) years of experience in a warehouse/inventory control atmosphere or material handling, two (2) years of which includes experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Education may substitute for experience up to the maximum of two (2) years.
Licenses and Certifications Required
- Valid Texas Class C Drivers License, if required for the position.
- If required for position, legally mandated training must be completed within 1 year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising inventory control or warehouse operations.
- Experience developing and implementing standardized inventory control processes.
- Experience leading continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing inventory assets throughout their lifecycle.
- Experience working in an outdoor or warehouse environment.
- Proficiency using inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to travel to more than one work location.

ARR is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Inventory Control Supervisor I to lead and continuously improve inventory control operations. This position is responsible for supervising daily inventory control operations supporting Austin Resource Recovery’s collection services. Work is performed primarily in an outdoor operations setting, with responsibilities regularly requiring movement between inventory storage areas, entering and exiting equipment, and operational work sites throughout the day.
Duties for this position include, but are not limited to
- Supervising inventory receiving, storage, distribution, cycle counts, warranty processing, refurbishment activities, and asset accountability.
- Providing direct supervision, coaching, and operational support to employees performing work in outdoor operational environments.
- Frequently walking throughout outdoor operations facilities, storage areas, and equipment to inspect inventory, monitor work activities, verify inventory accuracy, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Operating City vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment (as authorized and trained) to support inventory operations.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling inventory items, containers, and equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, with occasional assistance or mechanical equipment for heavier materials.
- Inspecting trash carts, recycle carts, compost carts, litter receptacles and related equipment for damage, warranty eligibility, refurbishment opportunities, quality control, and inventory accountability.
- Handling carts and equipment that have been used in residential service. These items may contain dirt, debris, moisture, or residual waste and may at times have strong odors associated with normal collection operations.
- Performing inventory audits, cycle counts, and physical verification of inventory stored both indoors and outdoors.
- Using computers, handheld devices, tablets, and inventory management systems to document inventory transactions, generate reports, analyze inventory data, and communicate with employees and other city departments.
- Working primarily outdoors and being routinely exposed to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, humidity, dust, uneven walking surfaces, and moving equipment or vehicle traffic within operational facilities.

Pay Range: $56,070.00 - $67,570.00 per year. Your detailed and complete employment application will be used to evaluate your qualifications and determine your salary if you are selected for this position.
Days & Hours: Monday – Friday; 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Employees may be required to work some early mornings, after hours, weekends, and special events due to business needs.
The schedule is subject to shift during peak operational periods. For example
- September - May: Monday - Friday; 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- June - August (peak season): Tuesday - Saturday; 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
