Patient Service Associate - Scheduler

An Imaging Scheduler coordinates patient diagnostic appointments, verifies insurance, and manages department calendars. Key duties include scheduling procedures, screening patients for safety, and communicating prep instructions.

Job Summary

The Imaging Scheduler manages inbound calls, organizes appointment slots for staff use, and ensures all patient records, physician orders.

Key Responsibilities

• Appointment Coordination: Book and sequence procedures (MRI, CT, Ultrasound, X-ray, Mammography) accurately within electronic health record systems.
• Patient Screening & Education: Screen patients for metal implants, allergies, or other safety contraindications; deliver clear verbal and written exam prep instructions.
• Insurance & Authorization: Verify insurance eligibility and secure required pre-certifications or prior authorizations before the scan date.
• Communication: Liaise smoothly with technologists, radiologists, and referring clinics to handle schedule adjustments or urgent add-on cases.
• Compliance: Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA rules and regulations.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or medical coursework preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years of administrative experience in a medical office, hospital, or high-volume call center environment.
• Skills: Proficiency with scheduling software and Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR); strong working knowledge of medical terminology; excellent multitasking and customer service skills.
