About The Role
The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. This role in particular will support the CUB program. This individual will supervise and support students who are assigned to CUB while they are physically present at Pleasant View. This requires strong behavior management skills and experience.
They will also support the 8.5 program during the summer and early months of the school year.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
- Participate in scheduled professional development
- Ability to support and guide alternative education programs in a diverse community
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organization and time-management skills
- Experience working with community organizations and groups to meet the needs of children and families
- Flexibility and patience are required
- Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision
- Must be able to work toward program and district goals
- Demonstration of interpersonal, time, conflict, and stress management skills
- Demonstration of ability to keep records and meet deadlines
- Demonstration of positive human interactions
Sample Job Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and support to manage the needs of families and their school aged children
- Proactively track the progress of goals set forth by the Lansing Learning Hub
- Help communicate with families and community entities to provide wrap around services for students
- Alert administrators of any concerns
- Conduct scheduled conferences with families and community organizations
- Document all conferences and necessary information in the appropriate computer database
- Fully engage the growth model developed for goal setting, performance, and evaluations
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings and participate in school activities, open houses, orientations, information sessions, etc
- Demonstrate ability to create an environment of respect and rapport
- Establish a culture for learning and respect
- Using questioning and discussion techniques
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness
- Effectively communicate with families
- Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission and vision
