Your Role
For our team of researchers and engineers, we seek a student to support our research and experiments on the characterization of thin films for inline metrology in battery manufacturing.
- Develop and evaluate optical spectroscopy concepts for thin-film characterization with a focus on battery manufacturing processes
- Design and perform experiments to measure and model optical properties of thin films for inline metrology
- Analyze and process spectral data to assess measurement robustness for industrial use
- Support the development and testing of prototype spectroscopy setups and inline metrology demonstrators
- Research existing solutions related to optical thin-film metrology and adapt relevant approaches to our application
Your Profile
We are looking for you, ideally starting in October, for 6 months
- A bachelor’s degree and enrolled in a master’s program in mechanical/electrical engineering, optics & photonics, physics, or similar
- Good understanding of the fundamentals of optics and electronics, ideally with a focus on measurement and sensing systems
- Programming knowledge in at least one of the following: Python, C/C++, or CUDA
- Ideally hands-on experience with optical systems
- Excellent organization, problem-solving & communication skills (English and/or German)
- Passion for innovation and enthusiasm for new technologies as well as motivation to work in agile, interdisciplinary teams
